update clamav to 0.99.2
Helo,
update is in EPEL repository.
on startup, clamd does not further create clamd.sock and clamd.pid
clamd service stops without any message - even in debug mode.
It's a nightmare.

KVM Random Reboots AMD EPYC Server
our new Server with AMD EPYC and super micro board reboots ramdonly.
There is no error message before the reboot in /var/log/messages.
we are running 2 Server with VMWare workstation without any problem.
The new server should run KVM.
older servers with AMD (before EPYC) running KVM without any problem.
any idea or recommendation?

Pushing real machines into KVM/Qemu
Hi all,
I took a real Core 2 machine (T7200? whose motherboard was starting to die?) running Fedora 29 and dd?d the SSD over to my KVM server, then created a VM using ?create from existing image?.
After some tweaking, including setting the disk type to ?SATA? from ?Virtio?, I got it working.
Is there a fixed recipe for virtualizing CentOS/Fedora/RHEL instances into running VM?s on KVM/Qemu?

CLAMD and EXIM - anyone got it working`
Has anyone actually got CLAMD and EXIM working?
I've just had a go on a new VPS server without success. The only thing that happened was that my server slowed because clamd was hogging CPU.
I have done a lot of googling and all I found was a couple of howto's that said the same thing, and my questions from 2015 which is the last time I tried this.
I can get clamd / freshclam etc

centos at windows network
Hello everyone. When I try to view the windows network which I connected,
the error "unable to mount share list from server" pops up. Once I tuned my
firewall off, everything works fine. Does anyone know how to configure
iptables in order to don't disable them. My current configuration of
iptables is following:

Samba4 questions
I'm a little new to Samba when used as more than just a simple place to
mount a single user to a single share, but we're now getting ready to
replace our Netware servers with Samba, and I guess that means Active
Directory DC.
As I read more and more about this beast, I keep finding pages that
indicate the samba4 rpms supplied with the Centos/RH distribution are
not the full version

ASP running on a Linux Machine
Good morning all,
I currently have a website that was written in ASP back in 1999. The
system is currently running Windows 2003 Server with MsSQL. Before
everyone flames me for being in the wrong place, I was wondering if
there is a way to allow centos to run old ASP code? I know years ago
this wasn't possible without a program like ChiliASP, but noow I heard
rumor that apache might have

Traffic shaping problem
Hi all,
I tried last week to do traffic shaping on a production system,
object of the exercise was simply to throttle the outgoing traffic.
tc qdisc add dev eth4 root tbf rate 300mbit burst 300kb latency 50ms
But the server became rather instable, crashing repeatedly without
anything in the logs.
Can anybody spot glaring mistakes in the tc command above,
or tell me what I should have done

update CentOS 7 at Nov 05 2019
yum update was run
23.10.19 and then

to the beginning of the update 5.11.2019 kernel logging to
/var/log/messages was ok.
During the update at 5.11.2019 logging to /var/log/messages finished. I
persume, this bug began during processing updates. yum-log shows:

persistent generic device for tape changer
Hello,
mtx and therefor amanda use generic device /dev/sg<x> for tape changer.
These devices change on reboot.
How to make them persistent?
/dev/sch0 and /dev/sch1 seem to be persistent.
/dev/tape/by-id/ shows links from WWID to generic device
An UDEV rule could help? I have not found any example.

persistent generic device for tape changer
Hello Ron,
sounds good. I have 2 tape changer. I persume, udev creates the same
link for both.
Can I modify
SYMLINK+="changer-$env{ID_SERIAL}"
The serial should be unique.

VM migration problems
I have migrated KVM VMs from a CentOS 6 to a CentOS 7 host. All work fine post-migration, CentOS 3 (don't ask ...), CentOS 6, CentOS 7, Windows. But the CentOS 5 VMs failed. At some point during the boot process, they became unpingable and also inaccessible.
I have correlated this to the start of the irqbalance service and was wondering if it is generally considered best practice to turn it

port for rpc.statd occupied rsync port
Hello,
booting starts /etc/init.d/nfslock. today, rpc.statd used port 873.
later starting xinetd finds port used and disabled rsync daemon.
So its more or less a lucky break, to boot CentOS and have rsync running?
In /etc/rc3.d is
S14nfslock
S56xinetd
so by design xinetd starts always after nfslock!!!!
Best regards
