samba-tool dns serverinfo
Good Afternoon,
I successfully joined an Ubuntu 14.04 server with Samba 4.1.9 to my existing domain. I want this server to become my Master, but before I attempt to seize roles, I have been double and triple checking all of the configuration files and DNS entries. I noticed that this server's dns serverinfo differs from the other three servers. For it's aipServerAddrs and aipListenAddrs,

Samba AD changing a user's password as non-root user
Hi!
I'm using Samba in an AD setup, (version 4.2.0) and I'm looking for a way to
change the password of a user from the command line, as a non-root user.
I know I can use 'smbpasswd', 'samba-tool user setpassword', or 'samba-tool
user password', but these all seem to require root privileges. When I run
them as root, they work, but when I run them as non-root

Interesting. DC1 and DC2 have many differences; DC1 and DC3 are the same.
Maybe I will demote DC2 and join it again.

Sure. This is samba's:
dlz "AD DNS Zone" {
database "dlopen /mnt/domain/samba/europa/lib/bind9/dlz_bind9_9.so";
};
and this is BIND's (notice the last line commented out):
options {
directory "/var/named";
dump-file "/var/named/data/cache_dump.db";

too many open files
Hello list,
I have a problem with a samba 4.1.2 (Sernet Package) on SLES 11 SP3.
Every few days samba (which works as a single ad controller) says
"NT_STATUS_TOO_MANY_OPENED_FILES" and stopps working. To fix this
Problem our customer reboots the machine.
The logfile says:
"Apr 15 02:48:37 s4ad samba[3058]: [2014/04/15 02:48:37.495691, 0]

Samba4 AD with bind DNS / TKEY is unacceptable
Hi,
i try to migrate an existing W2k3 AD to Samba4 with bind.
Everything works fine, but dnsupdate fails with error:
"dns_tkey_negotiategss: TKEY is unaccepteable".
I found a lot of discussions around this topic, but no solution.

Additional Zones with Samba4 DNS
Hi,
we plan to migrate to Samba4 from Samba3 and also from Bind9 to Samba4 DNS. One question is open, everything else works really great.
We need multiple domains for virtual hosts in our development enviroment.
Example: samba.local as samba domain, additional anotherdomain.local for hosting. How can we add those zones in Samba via command line tools.
The reverse zone for our IP

Why ? And why don't they show up when you ask for the zones with
samba-tool ?

samba4 AD DNS zone corrupted
Hello everyone,
somehow I broke my DNS zone managed by samba4. Unfortunately, I'm out of
ideas and you are my last hope!
When I want to open it in Windows DNS administration MSC, I get the
following error when selecting the zone: "Zone Not Loaded by DNS Server".
When running regular DNS queries on that zone, everything works fine.
# host -t A mydomain.local
mydomain.local has

Fresh ad installation - Win2022 can't join
Good morning, and a Happy New Year ?
I'd like to setup a test-enviroment, based on Debian Bookworm and mjt's
4.19.3 packages.
samba is running as a Hyper-V vm, its ip is 192.168.178.37, its name is
dc.augusta.domain.tld
My idea is to use this dc for two networks (192.168.178.0/24 and
192.168.180.0/24) and for testing one Windows 2022 server
(192.168.178.34/24).

Strange provisioning error - I really expect an answer
Hello All,
I'm trying to contribute with my tests and continuous attempts to install
and stress-test samba, but it gets really sad and frustrating finding out
that no one answers.
I know a lot of "we do this for free", "we do this in our free time", "wait
longer for an answer" and that will come, save some typing and please, do
not reply with that.
I've
