Problems mapping winbind/kerberos usernames and groups to Linux user and groups.
Samba 3.0.1 on Mandrake 9.1ish Kerberos version seems to match latest
stable MIT build.
I can log in via Kerberos authentication and/or winbind. A couple of
problems though.
1) telnet with the domain username and password and the telnet session
doesn?t reader /etc/bashrc. Telnet with local username and it does. bash
is the shell for both accounts.
2) The group account is ?Domain

samba vs LDAP - can I see LDAP logs, please?
Hi,
I'm setting up Samba to authenticate against an LDAP Server. I have the
basic setup running but authentication fails. I'm 95% sure that the LDAP
config is still wrong but the guy I'm setting this up for doesn't really
come up with the proper info.
I have set log level = 5 and get tons of irrelevant info. What I'd like
to see is the LDAP queries that the samba server

CentOS dom0 and domU kernel with xen 3.4.3?
Hi folks,
I hope this is the right place to ask - if not I can switch to the
CentOS mailing list.
I am running GITCOs 3.4.3 hypervisor with original RHEL5.5/CentOS5.5
kernels in dom0 and domU. I have phenonema I want to get rid of (like
time running wild - really wild).
So I am looking for a way to compile a kernel with all CentOS
refinements/backports/additions and xen 3.4.3. I have

Demo for linking native routines between R packages
Dear Davis and Dirk,
Thank you very much for the suggestions, which are very valuable and
helpful.
I will add references to prior examples, document my project with the clear
step-by-step-style document of Davis's project, and come back again to the
mailing list.
Best wishes,
David

Xen3.3 rpm for 32Bit?
Hi folks,
I would like to test Xen3.3 on CentOS 5.5 on an older machine which is
not 64bit capable.
Since this is just a "first impression" test I do not want to fuzz with
compiling the kernels and tools myself (that comes in a later step).
Can someone please point me to a repo with 32bit Xen3.3 kernels for
CentOS 5? GITCO supplies 64bit kernels only, and googling brought up

problem talking to server postgrey/socket: Permission denied
Hi folks,
I have installed postgrey from the rpmforge repo, but it does not work well
with postfix from CentOS 5.2: I always get the error:
warning: connect to postgrey/socket: Permission denied
problem talking to server postgrey/socket: Permission denied
But the permissions on the socket seem okay (postfix could write to it):

R 4.0 for ARM processors
Thank you very much, Dirk. That nudge solved the problem, of course. I am embarrassed. I was so fixated on Ubuntu repositories that I neglected to check the Debian 'testing' world!
Regarding the RPi: The RPi 4 uses the 'arm64' architecture, the full 64-bit one. I stopped using dedicated distros, such as Raspian, when Ubuntu went all-in on RPi support, which happened in their

Perl Trouble
I am running several CentOS 5.2 servers with similar configuration.
On all of them I received the following error when using a certain perl

On most of the servers installing Class::Accessor::Fast manually via CPAN

Interesting xapian-compact observations
Greets,
I've had xapian-compact (without -F) sessions running for several days now
on 10 'merge' machines and I've noticed that the average compaction
average can swing wildly:
18% 76% 10% 19% 39% 13% 69% 43% 19% 42%
The average so far is about 35% (ie, 65% reduction in target index sizes,
which is unexpected and pleasingly welcomed).
I'm curious about the large variance in

Rcmd_environ and R_LIBS_{USER,SITE}
Is there a fundamental reason why I cannot set either one of
## add local library path -- doesn't work either
R_LIBS_USER="c:/opt/R-library"
R_LIBS_SITE="c:/opt/R-library"
in $R_HOME/etc/Rcmd_environ even though I can seemingly set other things here?
It breaks "R CMD check" for me as I prefer NOT to install packages in a
versioned path.

Package RPostgreSQL_0.1-6.tar.gz has been checked and built
Hi Dirk
I think there are problems with pg_config, the configure script of
RPostgreSQL checks for pg_config and got ¡°checking for pg_config...

installed, there are in /usr/postgres/8.2(8.2.9) and

/usr/postgres/<version>/bin and
