Drag & Scroll
When using drag and drop, the browser window will not scroll if you move the mouse off the page. This makes it very difficult, if not impossible to create certain types of web applications. I know this has been mentioned before and is on the Wish List, but it''s very frustrating. If you look at this other Javascript library called "Drag''nDrop & DHTML Library"

Prototype question invalid error in IE6
Hi, I''m new to using Prototype and script.aculo.us. I''m trying to use prototype to adjust an elements top margin based on the height of the screen. I''m also using script.aculo.us to make the element move negatively off the left of the window to create a scrolling effect. It works fine in Firefox, but I keep getting an Invalid argument error in IE6. Here my margin code

Protoype problem
Hey everybody, I encountered an interesting problem today. Here is what I have: I used the prototype function "Position.clone(src, target)" which actually copies the top, left, offsetWidth and offsetHeight from the src to the target. interestingly, my src-object had a css-styled border of 1px, and a total offsetWidth of 320px. my target-object had the same properties, but once I

RE: how to use Effect.BlindUp for resizing a div
var height = someElementReference.offsetHeight; and to set it: someElementReference.style.height = "100"; It is worth saying that offsetHeight and offsetWidth are non-standard compliance. They will give you the total rendering height and this will cause problems in IE since they use a different box model than FireFox. So you will have to do some height juggling in IE if you are using

Prototype: Position.clone()
Does the duplicate clone method of Position serve a subtle purpose that I don''t understand? I feel kind of foolish even asking, but ... I just don''t get it. I''ve been looking at this for a couple days now and as far as I can tell, the first definition is useless as it gets overlaid by the second one. I don''t see any closure trickery going on here, either.

Element.getDimensions() support for IE?
Hey all, I''m not sure if IE can support this, but I''m trying to get the dimensions of an element that has percentages for height/width. In the example code below, I''m trying to get the dimensions for the ''MyCell'' element. Firefox supports Element.getDimensions(''MyCell''), but IE returns 0 for the height & width returned by that

Scrolling Tables/Divs?
Is anyone working on a scrolling table or div such as the openrico livegrid demo? I''m looking to develop (much like smashbox''s scrolling images) a collection of thumbnails that you can scroll horizontally. I''ve got a non-prototype.js example but I wanted to check to see if anyone was closer than I to this. BTW, I will be finishing up my slider code shortly and

getDimensions() fails for elements with ancestors with display: none
Prototype v1.6.0.2 If any of an element''s ancestors are hidden, Element.getDimensions() returns misleading values. In order to address this in my own project, I made the following modification: getDimensions: function(element) { element = $(element); var display = element.getStyle(''display''); + var hiddenAncestor = element.ancestors().any(function(e) {

CSS and autocompleter
hi. I''m rewriting the code from my own save-yourself-if-you-can implementation of xmlhttprequest to scriptaculous autocompleter, and it''s all fine and dandy, except that I am having difficulty positioning the auto_complete div which contains the results returned by xmlhttprequest. the auto_complete div is always stuck in one place, it starts a little below and half

Upgrade server to run on Rails 2.3.2/F11
Note that one of the 8 patches (#6) will be sent separately in reply to this email, as some of the replaced lines are too long, so git won't let me send the email. However, there is nothing wrong with that patch, and it should be applied in the sequence listed below. Note also that I assume this will be tested on a clean f11 install, rather than an upgrade of an existing ovirt server

Contribute: Center extension to Prototype''s Position object
If anyone is intrested, i was hardly missing such a feature in prototype (for displaying well formatted error dialogs and things like that): Position.center = function(element){ var options = Object.extend({ zIndex: 999, update: false }, arguments[1] || {}); element = $(element) if(!element._centered){

how can I get offsetHeight in IE?
Ok, This is driving me nuts. I am trying to determine the height of an element in IE, but offsetHeight returns undefined. I looped through all of the attributes that contain the word ''height'', both in the element and in the element.style, but they are all undefined. Is there a better way to determine the rendered height of an element? Is there something I need to do to the

prototype getHeight safari
Hi I have a weird bug with getHeight or getDimensions().hegiht (prototype) only on safari if I have a html file like this <div id="test"></div> and a embedded css <style> #test { width:100px; height:100px; float:left; } </style> In Safari $(''test'').getHeight returns 100, fine but if the css declaration #test.. is in a css file

Getting a dynamically generated elements dimensions
Ive posted this before, but unfortunately I still have yet to resolve it after numerous attempts... Here is the overview: populate a container element with some new html using Element.update and then retrieve the new dimensions of the containig element. Here is a bit of code snippet that I would think should work.. but doesn''t: ==== start snippet ==== <style> .bigBox {

dragdrop library
Thomas, Special thanks for the dragdrop library. I consider your javascript abilities quite superior to my own, in fact I''m just setting out on a quest to master javascript, I found your library the other night and started hacking away on my app. I replaced a dom-drag.js library I was using before with yours since it integrated with prototype better, and appears to be better coded.

Javascript & Scrolling
I am currently in the middle of creating a horizontal scrolling product list with page buttons that use effects to scroll from one page to another using scriptaculous. I am having problem that when the window is resized, so only the viewable area of the div changes, this causes the width to change and then because of that the scroll effect will scroll to position 2000 but then when the scroll bar

Hi, when I compile with FIXED_DEBUG enabled, I get an error -- both when make tries to build testenc.o and when I try to link my app against the speex lib: lorenz@panelmaker:~/Blackfin/tests/speex_loopthrough$ make bfin-uclinux-gcc -c -g -I/home/lorenz/include -o main.o main.c bfin-uclinux-gcc -gl -elf2flt -L/home/lorenz/lib -o speex_through main.o -lspeex_debug -lspeexdsp -lm

Symbols for male/female
Dear all, I would like to use the biological symbols for male and female as plotting symbols in a scatterplot (ideally filled and non-filled). R does not seem to have these symbols using pch= in plot() nor are they implemented via expression() or at least I did not find them. I found that the symbols are e.g. available in the wasysym and the marvosym package in LaTeX. I have coded two very rough
