RE: manipulate <td>''s and their content by grabbingtheir classNames
Or...
var myTDs = new Array();
$A($("main").childNodes).each(function(tr)
{
$A(tr.childNodes).each(function(td)
{
myTDs.push(td);
});
});

disabling drag''n''drop features on some areas
Hi,
I have implemented the drag and drop feature to move around some divs, but I
have a small side
effect i am trying to clear:
When the draggable div contains links, and if the user grab the div on the
link, the drag is done but
the link is also visited, leading to unwanted issues.
What I''ve tried to do is to look for all ''a'' tags in the draggable elements
in order

document.write() in ajax response
Hi,
I am facing a problem and the description is as follows -
I have a page 1.html that does an Ajax.Updator & calls stuff from 2.html (that has some html snippet & some javascript).
So far so good - things work fine.
However, if 2.html had any document.write code - eg document.write(''hello'') then once the response is received it will be rendered till the point

manipulate <td>''s and their content by grabbing their classNames
Hi Guys,
What''s the best way to grab all <td>''s in a particular table and manipulate them?
Here''s the problem definition -
I have a table that has ''n'' <tr>''s.
Each <tr> has couple of <td>''s and the first <td> has an image.
By default, each <td> has a ''x'' class and image src

Ahh... Haven''t run up against that yet. Although I also completely
disregard Gecko/Safari and other totally crappy, useless, browsers :-).

Tree
I''m not sure if this has been discussed, but is there a public tree control
based on prototype/script.aculo.us?
Thanks

Prototype & Cookies
Has anyone written any "cookie" class using prototype?
Basically, what I am looking for is if there is an easy way to store mutiple cookies in a single cookie using hash or something - easy writing and retrieval (updating the cookie value).
For eg -
If I had 25 cookies for my domain 5 of the cookies would either get dropped or not be set (as there is a limit of 20 cookies per domain).

Javascript Logging
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to find out if scriptaculous has a patch for a error logging class?
Currently, I have found 2 javascript logging scripts (outside of scriptaculous).
Lumberjack: http://gleepglop.com/javascripts/logger/
log4js: http://jroller.com/page/stritti?entry=logging_in_javascript_log4js
Could you guys shed some light on what would be a good logger class to use with our

Stopping the Ajax.PeriodicalUpdater -- My Kludge?
Well, I''ve been burning the midnight oil trying to figure out how to
issue the stop() command to a PeriodicUpdater. I''ve come up with a
solution that uses setTimeouts to call the stop function. I think my
solution is very kludgey... especially since I''m new to Javascript +
Prototype.
Can anyone let me know if the below code is at all proper? :)

RE: Appending <tr>''s to Table - Images in <tr>''sloading slowly.
I have also experienced erratic image "non"-caching by IE in my projects
(seemingly related specifically to AJAX/DOM manipulated nodes as you are
seeing)...
I tried preloading the icon images in body onload in global variables,
then using those global variables to access the images... no luck.
...I have no idea why IE sometimes has to download these images that it
SHOULD have in its

Generic Question about the way code is written
Hi,
This is a generic question about the way code is written in prototype and scriptaculous libraries.
Inside every object, we find functions that begin with "_".
How are these methods/functions different from the rest?
eg _text, _attributes, _each...
Please let me know.
Thank you,
Mandy.

Dropables problem on scroll bars
I have a droppable and draggable implementation. works pretty much well
except when my droppables are on a scrollbar (created via overflow:auto)
since my droppables are on a list.
seems that the droppables aren''t working well with scrollbars and overflow.
please help!

Please try them and feed me back, like bug report etc.
Check it out at:

Content-Type: application/rdf+xml
Hi,
I am trying to parse the response received from a rdf file using DOM.
However, I am not able to get anything in the responseXML. It always returns null.
Following is the content type I receive from the server.
Content-Type: application/rdf+xml
Can someone let me know how I can receive this as an xmlObj?
Thanks in advance,
Mandy.

Prototype.js Hash Methods
Hi,
Has anyone seen any documentation on the Hash Object defined in the prototype library?
To be precise the following methods -
1. keys
2. values
3. toQueryString
4. inspect
5. Merge
I am trying to play around with them and have come up with the following examples -
var h = $H({name: "john doe", email: "john-Ch9RrZxMC0c@public.gmane.org", msg: "say hello to

RE: Appending <tr>''s to Table - Images in<tr>''sloading slowly.
I tried the same thing Ryan - tried preloading the images using javascript once and then using CSS (heights of desperate behavior ;)
But no Luck!
But, IE is misbehaving in this respect. The application behaves fine once loaded. But, each refresh sucks!
Only if I knew why this was happening ... :)
Thanks anyway,
Mandy.

Prototype Enumerable, Array and Hash Documentation
Hey guys,
I recently published an article documenting some of the more useful
and interesting parts of Prototype''s Enumerable, Hash and Array objects.
You can find it here: http://encytemedia.com/blog/articles/
