Sortable > how to know wich elementID was dropped ?
Maybe a newb question, maybe not.
It''s not well documented, and I want to know how to know the id of my
newly dropped item.
The usage, would be to attach the newly dropped id to its *new* parent in
a DB.
Thanks.

How to achieve the 'multi' fade effect that is used by Apple computer?
Hi all!
My first post here, so: be gentle ;-)
I have been playing around with the scriptaculous library for a while
now, and I must admit it is great. However, there is one thing that
I''m notable to achieve:
On Apple computers website for ilife (iphoto) http://www.apple.com/ilife/iphoto/
there is a verrrryyy nice fade effect going on when you click the

cancelling droppable if draggable dropped on different droppable
I''m writing a web app in which I have several ''windows'' in which the
user can perform given functionality.
So for example I have one window which manages images on a server (drag
an image into a folder and the file physically moved on the server via
ajax ) These images can also be dragged into another window to create a
slideshow.
My problem

"Cannot convert String to Integer" after using association
So, I''ve written a partial that does some stuff with a given instance of
my class "entity". Entity is ActiveRecord. I''m able to retrieve all
sorts of data from an @entity, until I do something like:
<% for @attribute in @entity.attributes %>
<div id="attribute_<%= @attribute.id %>">

Howto disable Firefox Drag + Drop
Hi,
I am trying to implement some custom drag and drop using javascript.
However, in Firefox, the drag and drop extension seems to interfere with
my custom handling of onMouseDown, onMouseMove and onMouseUp.
Once I start to drag the mouse (left-mouse-down + move a few pixels)
firefox shows a drag-forbidden symbol (circle with a diagonal bar inside).
Does anybody know how to disable this firefox

Draggables causing text to be selected... solution?
Hi, it''s me again. Ok, so I''m using the Draggable class, and it''s great.
However, dragging something often causes undesirable selecting of text
on the page while performing the drag operation. Is there a way to
prevent this?

Sortables: which element moved?
Looking at the archives, people have asked this before, but I can''t find a
proper answer:
How do you get sortable_element to return the dragged (moved) element? I
know I can compare the list of elements before and after, but I need to know
exactly which element was moved. The problem with comparing the list before
and after is that if an element is dragged one element forward or

Sortable callback, when dragging starts/stops
Hi *,
is there a callback or something else to get noticed, if the user starts
(stops) to drag an element of a sortable? I only found the onUpdate and
onChange callbacks, but they don''t give the information I need.
Thanks in advance,

How to label and unlabel points on scatterplot with mouse pointer
Dear all,
How can I label/unlabel points on scatterplot with mouse pointer. As the
mouse approches near to point, it should label the closest point, then
unlabel when it moves away.
How can I do in R? I be very thankful.
Thanks and Regards,

Scriptaculous: Sortable (dragdrop.js) onUpdate
Hi all,
In the following code, it doesn''t look like the onUpdate() event is firing.
Am I doing something wrong?
<ul id="testSort">
<li id="item1">item 1</li>
<li id="item2">item 2</li>
<li id="item3">item 3</li>
<li id="item4">item 4</li>

Getting nuts with sortables...
Folks,
It has been a whole day spent on this but I still can''t get my mind
around the most probably very stupid/basic mistake here... First, the
code I use:
<h3>List A</h3>
<ul id="lista" >
<li id="item1"> Item 1</li>
<li id="item2"> Item 2</li>
<li id="item3"> Item 3</li>
</ul>

RE: drag and drop sorting with an empty lis
I ran into this issue too. My solution was to add an "onUpdate" function to
the sortable that tests the container to see if it''s got any children or
not:
function is_empty(container)
{
if ($(container).hasChildNodes()) {
Element.removeClassName($(container),''empty'');
} else if (!$(container).hasChildNodes()) {

question about Sortables
So, is there any way to specify a sortable to only do a callback when
the dragged item is dropped? As it is, the onChange is called whenever
you move the draggable to a new element (even if you don''t drop it), but
I''d rather only call my function after they drop it to avoid unnecessary
additional server calls. It looks like Droppable supports an ''onDrop'',

maintaining application state/urls
Hi All
Not specifically a scriptaculous question, but I was wondering how
people were going about maintaining access to their applications via
standard urls.
Say for example I''ve a shop at www.shop.com, and its pure ajax to load
in products. Now customer A wants to show a friend a product on the site
- giving him the url www.shop.com and telling him to click on a series
of links

script.aculo.us: onUpdate in Sortable.create
Can''t seem to get the onUpdate to work in for a sortable list. I am
following the documentation and the included functional tests but
nothing is firing for me. Any idea why?
Sortable.create(''list1'', {
tree:true
, onUpdate:function(sortable){
alert(''onUpdate'')
}
, handle: ''handle''
, scroll:window

Ghostly bug in sortables
When a sortable has ''ghosting'' enabled, it seems to include the dragged
element twice in the list which is submitted in the onUpdate AJAX request.
By the looks of it, it''s appended onto the end of the list when
Sortable.serialize is called.
IE in the following list:
- 1
- 2
- 3
If I drag 3 to be at the top, what we expect is:
[3, 1, 2]
What we get is:
[3, 1, 2, 3]
