debian unstable : mutt polling imap mailboxes
Package: dovecot Version: 0.99.10.4-2 I am accessing my IMAP folder on my ~/Maildir using mutt via Dovecot and I have this problem whereby mutt incorrectly reports I have new mail in a "mailboxes" polled mailbox. This happens all the time when I press the key bound to change mailbox. I use courier IMAP at school, and I have not experienced this problem. A bug with dovecot or mutt?

imap2json
Hi there, I've started work on a side project that I've been long wanting to do; better HTML archives of email. https://github.com/kaihendry/imap2json I'm just designing the JSON schema atm, and I thought it would be good to get your feedback (Esp Timo) before I make a horrible mistake. https://github.com/kaihendry/imap2json/blob/master/JSON-design.mdwn Is it a good idea to base

Styling Markdown approaches
Hi guys, I wrote a markdown based Web editor thing for my sister: http://ws.dabase.com/ And she has trouble styling blocks of markdown. Since <div markdown=1>markdown here</div> does not work on my Debian markdown binary. Is there a formal definition of markdown? Or some sort of conformance test? And certain markdown implementations I should be using, and certain ones I should be

validates_presence_of
I am just going through the book and I come across a problem with the code in the app/models: validates_format_of :image_url, :with => %r{^http:.+\.(gif|jpg|png)$}i, :message => "must be a URL for a GIF, JPG, or PNG image" It seems to moan when it''s empty even though I removed :image_url from validates_presence_of. How should I make it optional?

pimp my code?? Using self.new in class methods, brittle design & testing such methods
It''s way past midnight and I''m about to go to sleep. I''m having doubts about my code now that I''m trying to test as I go. Now my model follows the pattern of the LineItem model in the rails book. Basically the User has one Group and this one Group has many Friends (polymorphic two-way as "befriender" and "befriended"--users). from

Testing the flash is brittle?
Hello all, I seem to have an annoying habit of realizing that I''ve asked a question with a blindingly obvious answer just after I''ve asked it but here goes. I''ve noticed that in my functional tests there''s the occasional reliance on the contents of the flash. For example, I have an action that confirms a users identity and may reject them because A)

Frequency table
This must be FAQ, but I can't find it in archives or with a site search. I am trying to construct a frequency table. I guess this should be done with table. Or perhaps factor and split. Or prop.table. cut? findInterval? Argh! Please correct me if what I am looking for is not called a "frequency table". Perhaps it's called grouped data. > zz$x9 [1] 65 70 85 65 65 65 62 55

brittle IAX connections ?
Hello, I have several asterisk 1.2.7.1 servers connected through iax2 and often the local asterisk would no longer see the remote one, even thought the link is high quality and the ping is perfect. Is there some issues to take into account about IAX2 connections? Is asterisk's DNS resolution too fragile and should I use raw IP's in my configs? Thanks for any help (I'm in hot

Comparing linear regression coefficients to a slope of 1
Hi! I have a question that is probably very basic, but I cannot figure out how to do it. I simply need to compare the significance of a regression slope against a slope of 1, instead of the default of zero. I know this topic has been posted before, and I have tried to use the advice given to others to fix my problem. I tried the offset command based on one of these advice threads as follows:

Samba slow on MacOSX Yosemite
Samba is very slow through Finder on our Gigabit network (she's using a USB3 adaptor), especially when it comes to listings and such on my wife's computer. This is my samba configuration on Archlinux: http://s.natalian.org/2016-05-14/smb.conf (I'm always running the latest https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/samba/) And this what the mount looks like on the MBP: //rufie

Windows 10 share failing
I think its related to https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-September/202918.html I am not very competent at Bugzilla. I scanned the list on https://bugzilla.samba.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=windows%2010 and I couldn't find one I could track for this problem to be fixed. I filed an issue upon https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/50847 since I use Arch. I will try and provide a tcpdump

Getting back into Dovecot 2.2.5
Hi there, I'm prompted to get into running my own mail server again with Gmail going bad. However I found /usr/share/doc/dovecot/example-config/conf.d/ a little scary, since I like to have my configs as minimalistic as possible, e.g. http://dabase.com/blog/Minimal_squid3_proxy_configuration/ So far I have: https://github.com/Webconverger/sg.webconverger.com/blob/master/dovecot/dovecot.conf

ices2 realplayer
I'm rebroadcasting a realplayer stream and there are two problems. The icecast2 sounds tinny and its delayed something like 3secs. Any advice to perhaps use speex as it's talk radio? Can I cut the delay? Here is my ices2 config: http://static.natalian.org/2006-06-21/ices-alsa.xml Here is details of the feed, so you can take a listen:

compositional time series
Dear R users, i am wondering if anyone has some hints for this problem (i have not found a clear answer after searching the R-mailing list archive, 'help.search' in R, and R-Wiki, and the like...): let's assume that i have 4 periods compositional time series data: t=1, A=0.1; B=0.5; C=0.4 t=2, A=0.2; B=0.4; C=0.4 t=3, A=0.5; B=0.3; C=0.2 t=4, A=0.4; B=0.3;

CachedModel anyone?????
Can any one help explain this output in my log. I have memcache-client and cached_model setup for a model City but when I run my app, this is the output I get (this is on a second pass so theoretically the data is already in the cache). MemCache Get (0.000469) active_record:City:1802387 City Load (0.001015) SELECT * FROM cities WHERE (cities.id = 1802387) LIMIT 1 MemCache Set (0.000776)

step, leaps, lasso, LSE or what?
Hi, I am trying to understand the alternative methods that are available for selecting variables in a regression without simply imposing my own bias (having "good judgement"). The methods implimented in leaps and step and stepAIC seem to fall into the general class of stepwise procedures. But these are commonly condemmed for inducing overfitting.
