shutdown -r / shutdown -h / reboot all hang and don't cleanly dismount
Hello -STABLE@,
So I've seen this situation seemingly randomly on a number of both
physical 9.1 boxes as well as VMs for I would say 6-9 months at least.
I finally have a physical box here that reproduces it consistently
that I can reboot easily (ie; not a production/client server).
No matter what I do:
reboot
shutdown -p
shutdown -r
This specific server will stop at "All buffers

bugged sysinstall, bsdlabel, zfs, gmirror - recept for disaster :)
Hello there!
Here's my story, hopefully some of you won't follow my steps and avoid
some troubles :)
Yesterday I've decided that's about time to test zfs functionality on my
home server PC (i386 FreeBSD 7.1-pre) . A couple of weeks ago I bought
new desktop PC (with SATA), so I had a bunch of PATA disks from old one
to use in server. Lucky me - there was 3 HDD at size 40GB -

sensitivity analysis, input factors
Hi,
I'm trying to conduct sensitivity analysis in R using the 'sensitivity' package. Although the description of functions seem straightforward, I can?t succeed. The definition of input factors can be the problem.

where I have two 750GB Seagate SATA Disks. They are divided as two slices,
around the first 120GB are gathered in gmirror, and what left is in
gstripe. so that's whats going on. if the machine locks, and fsck comes to

gmirror+gjournal: unable to boot after crash
Hi,
after one month with gmirror and gjournal running on a 7.0-RELEASE #p2 amd64 (built from latest CVS source), the box hung a couple of times when on high disk load. Finally, while building some port it won't boot for no reason obvious to me.
This is what I get with kernel.geom.mirror.debug=2:

gmirror crash writing to disk? Or is it su+j crash?
So I have a system running:

unable to use gmirror on supermicro 5015b-mt
These are new boxes.
http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/5015/SYS-5015B-MT.cfm
core 2 Q6600 CPU
8Gb 667 RAM
Boxes were memtested from Fri-Mon okay. 6.3-RELEASE (amd64) installs fine.
Build cycle okay. Running (no load) for a week or so.
However, when I try to configure gmirror they hang on boot.
After some fiddling it appears issuing
#kldload geom_mirror
hangs the boxes very hard.

useradd setuid bit
Hi!
I've a little question:
When the samba create machine account it's uid is 0 (root) or anything
else? I've created a samba jail, and I want to know the useradd binary
should be setuid or not.
Thanks:

Issues accessing ZFS-shares on Linux
I think it may have something to do with my disks being encrypted. This
issue happened after updating systemd to version 236, ZoL to 0.7.4 and
kernel to 4.14.
I have always mounted the pool manually by first opening LUKS-encrypted
disks and after that issuing zpool import tank.
Is there any way to still use systemd to manage smbd or do I have to
just always start it manually?
This is how the

Issues accessing ZFS-shares on Linux
I just noticed that by running by commands /usr/sbin/smbd -D or
/usr/sbin/smbd -i without systemd's unit, all shares work perfectly so
the problem must then be somehow related to systemd.. Let the testing
continue..
I also tested what happens if I comment out everything and just use
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/smbd -D as that command worked on the console. That
did not help.
For the record, this is

FreeBSD 9.0 - GPT boot problems?
Hi,
I just installed FreeBSD 9.0-release / amd64 on a new machine (Acer Aspire X1470).
I installed from a usb memory stick (the default amd64 image), which I booted by pressing "F12" and selecting it from the boot menu on the machine.
I installed on a SSD (which replaced the hard drive originally in the machine), using the default scheme for 9.0 (GPT).
The installation was painless (many

Samba on top of NFS question
I am sorry for the long *involved* post, however we are at wits end and
advice would be greatly appreciated.
Background: We have three servers in this example. Two of the servers (we
will call Server A & B) each have a 2.7T raid 5 array that is mirrored with
DRBD and monitored for failover with Heartbeat. NFS is running and
exporting the array on Heartbeats virtual IP.
