What best decision to make for flatfiles or SQL when I use Dovecot2 + Postfix together?
Hello, I'm moving my mail server from Exchange to an opensource one. After a bunch of reading, I decided on building a Dovecot2 + Postfix server in a VirtualUsers-only + Multiple-domains configuration. Since my messages will be stored by Dovecot, and the documentation is really good, I figured that it's smartest to configure Dovecot, then make Postfix 'fit' to it, sharing the

Problems with dovecot/sendmail combi.
Hi, I am really stuck here. I am trying to setup imap for an external mail server. I have a freebsd server running sendmail / dovecot. I am transfering the existing mail from an exchange 2003 server to the mailserver using imapsync. This works fine, but gives errors when it tries to make a submap, also thunderbird gives an error "Mailbox doesn't allow inferior mailboxes" when I try

Only using LMTP-delivery, where should domain & user aliases be configured, Dovecot or MTA conf?
I have my MTA (Postfix) check Dovecot2 LMTP for existing users. No other delivery is done; this is a virtual/LMTP-only setup. I define known users in a Dovecot passwd-file, specified in conf.d/10-auth.conf passdb { args = ... username_format=%n /stor01/vmail/auth.d/%d/passwd e.g., vi /stor01/vmail/auth.d/mx1.domain1.com/passwd myuser:{scheme}####:... mail to: myuser at mx1.domain1.com

'doveadm quota get' dictionary SQL query ignores specified '@domain' part of username. bad config or bug?
Hi, I'm setting up SQL quota usage in Dovecot2. I've created a MAILBOX parameter table, 'PARAMS', that contains unique <user>@<domain> pairs, with quota data. mysql> select * from PARAMS; +----+------------------------+------------+-------------+------------+ | ai | MAILBOX_user_domain | quota | quota_bytes | quota_msgs |

Mail addresses with quotes + Postfix
I wrapped the LDA command in a script. I can see that Postfix passes "@@mydomain.tld" as the -d argument, without quotes. I then adapted the script to specifically replace this address with "@"@mydomain.tld, but this results in the following error message by Dovecot: ??? auth: Info: userdb(?): Username character disallowed by auth_username_chars: 0x22 (username:

I upgraded to Dovecot 2.3.0.1 as advised, but it still seems broken. Sendmail problem - baffled
Our backup mail server (which I have just re-configured) tries to contact the primary mail server, and fails. Mail addresses with quotes + Postfix
Of course you are right! It should either be "a at b"@mydomain.tld or a."@".b at mydomain.tld, both would be valid. Sadly, it does not change the outcome. Even with a pure "@"@mydomain.tld, Dovecot splits it into the empty string user (%n) and @mydomain.tld as the domain part (%d). Mail addresses with quotes + Postfix
Dear all, I have a working setup with Postfix + Dovecot, storing users in a MySQL table. I ran into problems setting up and using a mail address like a"@"b at mydomain.tld, which by RFC should be valid, but leads to problems in Dovecot. From my debugging, I can see that on the lookup, Dovecot replaces %n with "a" (quotes added by me) and %d with "b at mydomain.tld"

Resend: How do I configure sendmail to accept emails for dovecot when dovecot has sql auth/user db.
Apologies for resending this, I am not sure it made it through the first time.. --- Included below are my config files: sendmail.mc, dovecot.m4, dovecot.conf, dovecot-sql.conf. Whenever I try to send email into this system, it rejects it with user does not exist, however, the user does exist as far as dovecot (imap) is concerned, it is in the database. Postfix Ignoring lmtp, delivering straight to maildir
Hello Doug, First off since this is a postfix configuration problem I beleive it would be better suited in the postfix mailing list. The way I understand it is that you are editing the virtual transport map when you should be changing the local transport map because you are delivering to a normal, system user, not a virtual user. Try and see if that works for you. ? -- Yassine. On

Postfix Ignoring lmtp, delivering straight to maildir
I considered sending to the postfix list instead, and would be happy to do that if it's more appropriate. In regards to your suggestion, I've tried local_transport and mailbox_transport, but both result in mail bouncing because "User doesn't exist." I've added my virtual_maps file to local_recipient_maps, and that still doesn't work. I did get the expected

Hmm, multiple computers with the same serial cause these things. So first make sure this computers serial isnt used before. Or 2 computers with the same name in the netwerk, happens with not syspreped computers. Keep an eye on your samba

Login not possible / machine account issues
Hi, Did you find any solution? I am facing exactly the same scenario. -CentOS 6.7 -Samba Version 4.4.3 -BIND_DLZ 9.9.8 Some workstations suddenly are unable to login, unless I reboot or rejoin the domain. The only odd event I see in the client is the one already said: Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-Security-Kerberos Event ID: 4 Task Category:
