Physical-to-Virtual (VMware) & SELinux
Hello guys, I have a couple of servers that I'm about to virtualize to our VMware Vsphere ecosystem. For Linux servers I read that one needs to use the stand-alone converter (which is a live-cd that you boot from it and then you point it to your destination ESX). I would like to know from folks that have already done so...what was your experience like? Did everything went smooth? Any

virsh & vmxnet3 (VMware) VM
Hi, I try to install a VMware VM via virsh with a vmxnet3 network card. Virsh sends me an error : "Insufficient video RAM. The maximum resolution of the virtual machine will be limited to 1176x885. To use the configured maximum resolution of 2560x1600, increase the amount of video RAM allocated to this virtual machine by setting svga.vramSize="16384000" in the virtual

v2v vmware converter
Hi Matt, I was taking a look on v2v to implement vSphere and I have few questions: 1) the converter should be in: Sys::VirtConvert::Converter::VMWare ( or Vsphere) ? 2) What you think if instead to mess up with the xml converter we gonna use a XSL file that take the OVF file and transform it in KVM like xml file ? Cheers, Francesco

Compiling Libvirt-snmp on VMware Vsphere ESXi
How can I compile and run Libvirt-snmp on VMware Vsphere ESXi? Can somebody guide me with step by step procedure. I tried to followed steps mentioned on Libvirt Website <https://libvirt.org/compiling.html> but I guess they are for Linux distribution. Because I could not execute ./configure command. After searching on Google I found a similar question

Announce: VMware NUT client for ESXI 5.0
Dear NUT users, I recently came across an interesting effort to integrate NUT with WMware ESXI, made by Ren? Garcia. This is still rough and young, but already providing a good support: http://www.networkupstools.org/download.html#_virtualization_packages We will work jointly in the coming months, Ren?, Aur?lien (from Eaton) and myself, with the support from Eaton (which is a VMware partner),

[v2v PATCH] docs: remove paragraph about VMware tools on Windows
Starting from libguestfs/virt-v2v 1.39.12, virt-v2v attempts to uninstall the VMware tools from Windows guests, so there is no need to remove them manually before the conversion. VMware tools not installing init.d script
Has anyone else seen this on Centos 6.x x64? Running vSphere 5.0 and I install tools from the VMware tar.gz file with ' vmware-install-tools.pl -d' it seems to do all the usual/right things. Once completed there is no 'vmware-tools' listed in 'chkconfig --list'. A reboot of the box leaves vmware tools not running. I have tried completely uninstalling tools and

a peculiar LVM failure on CentOS 6 run as a VMware 5.5 guest
Hello listmates, I have encountered a rather peculiar situation. We have a Centos 6 VM (64 bit) running on a VMware vSphere 5.5 server. It was running just fine until one day I decided to reboot it and it just would not boot up. Effectively, dracut failed to initialize the LVM, much like under the scenario described here:

PE and VMWare Question
I am working toward pitching a move from Open Source Puppet to Puppet Enterprise. One of the driving points is that Where-I-Work has just made a huge investment in hardware/software in the form of a VMWare "local cloud". In trying to figure out how to plug my current Puppet setup into it, I keep hitting references to middleware tools like "vSphere CLI for Linux" and
