Dovecot 2.1 Panic
Hi,
Dovecot 2.1.12 sends panic message when it tries to authenticate some users. Apparently because they use different authentication mechanisms on different email clients at the same time. For example, in debug logs this user uses CRAM-MD5, NTLM and PLAIN in account settings of his email clients.
All passwords are stored in plain text (base64) in LDAP.
Please advise me what I can tweak to fix

NTLM refuses to work on a DC
Hi there,
I'm trying to get FreeRADIUS to authenticate against my Samba DC. It's
Samba 4.7.6-ubuntu running on Ubuntu 18 (kernel version
4.15.0-66-generic). It came nicely packaged with Zentyal, which provides
a nice GUI for managing a domain, as well as a CA and lots of cool small
features. That same Zentyal also includes support for FreeRADIUS (3.0.16).
This is my smb.conf:

ext3 and 2.2.19
Hi All,
Has anyone had a similar problem with ext3?
A 75 gig partition in 24x7 use for about 2 weeks - no problems.
Today I ran bonnie++ on the partition to get a feel for the performance,
with ext3 and quotas enabled.
The box started swapping like crazy on and abruptly froze at at the
'Delete files in random order' step.
There was no kernel error messages or the like. This partition

Exposing masteruser info to cllients via lmtp-proxy connections
Hello,
Please somebody suggest me how to remove the "*masteruser" appendix from the dovecot director database while using masteruser authentication.
My situation is:
- all users get authenticated in LDAP on the dovecot-director frontend
- then they are forwarded to dovecot backend as username*masteruser ( this is a way how to proxy users with encrypted passwords). To enable it a added

Benchmarking: Dovecot vs Courier. Courier wins as POP3 server
Hi All,
I have compared Dovecot performance to Courier and it appears that as a POP3 server Dovecot is slower in 2 times but as an IMAP server it is faster in 1.5 times. The same node (16CPUs), testing time is 30 min, please see results and dovecot configs attached.
Benchmark software is MStone used by Sendmail Inc so is is quite reliable.
I do not see anything else to tweak in Dovecot to

PCI Passthrough not working
I am having trouble getting PCI Passthrough to work from Dom0 running CentOS 7 to DomU runnning Debian 8
I am using Xen 4.6 with CentOS kernel 3.18.34-20.el7.x86_64 on a Dell Poweredge T430.
I think I have set it all up correctly, but I see no message when putting a USB device into any of the USB slots on the DomU
There are three other DomUs running, but I have no need of PCI Passthrough set up

Samba 3.0 & Windows 2003 server ADS
Hi there
I'm having trouble getting winbindd working properly (I think).
My understanding is that winbindd uses a kerberos 5 session (with 2003
server) to authenticate the machine to ADS, before any users have logged in.
Then it uses that session ticket to authenticate all users of the smb
server.
Is that correct ?
I can run kinit ok, and klist shows me a krb5 ticket (using a Domain

Chasing the "ads_add_machine_acct: Insufficient access" problem
Okay, the jist of this whole thing, I get this infamous (?) problem, I
have been trying to search though the archives of samba-general on gmane
and also in my archive of this list. I have only seen requests for the
magical answer.
Environment: W2K/W2K3 mixed ADS going Native ADS only soon. Samba 3.0.4
compiled from source on a RHEL AS30 machine. MIT Kerberos v1.3.4 also
compiled from source.

Marks SNMP HowTo
I followed Marks SNMP howto on Voip Magazine and ran into a small
problem... (http://www.voip-magazine.com/content/view/2877/0/1/3/)
When asterisk is running as a non-root user (asterisk) SNMP request
for for the Asterisk MIB tree return nothing. If I quit asterisk and
run it as root, all is fine. Does anyone have a idea what is going
on? I have never used agentX, so I am unsure of what it is

smbd could not access share directory on drbd (8.3 on Centos 5 i386)
Dear, all. I am pulling my hair because I could not find any error
messsages that could point me to a fix to my problem.
The directory I want to share was mounted on /home with drbd and
heartbeat but then my users could not access any shares / their home
directories. However, if I set up shares else where on my box like
share under /opt or /usr/local, then the same users would be able to

Modules design patterns ?
Hi,
I''m writing puppet modules since a couple of weeks now, so I''m still
considering myself as a new comer in this field.
It seems that modules I can find on the web or the recipe page on the
wiki almost all use a design pattern where the module is shipped in one
or several class(es) whose configuration are determined by "global" or
nodes variables ala:

GPOs don't work after update from Samba4.0 alpha 17 to 4.0.1
Hi!
I have updated our server from Samba 4 alpha 17 to Samba 4.0.1.
Everything seems to work fine after some reconfiguration, but our
GPOs are not working anymore.
Samba 4 alpha 17 was using ntvfs and the root partition with the sysvol share was mounted with "user_xattr" only in /etc/fstab.
Samba 4.0.1 is now set to use s3fs and the root partition is mouted with

network setup
Hi All,
I am a newbie to libvirt.
I am trying to set up a Lxc container using a nat based network.
I am able to create the container and log into it. But I don't see any interface created by default in the container.
In other words my ifconfig inside the container does not show up any interfaces even if I run 'ifconfig lo up' for a loop back interface.
Also I don't have any dhcp

status of dir_index in 2.4 kernels ?
Hi,
I stumbled on the dir_index option of recent ext2 implementation which
would be interesting for our mailservers (running dovecot with maildir)
and found out that the newer ext2progs are able to cope with it; the 2.6
kernels do also but for the 2.4 kernels I still require a patch. Is that
correct? Which patch would be the correct one to apply to the current
2.4.27 kernel ? Can anybody

SpamAssassin under CentOS-6.4
I wonder if anyone is actually running SpamAssassin
with Postfix/Amavisd-new under CentOS-6.4 .
I have followed the instructions in
<http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Amavisd>
but as far as I can see SpamAssassin is not working.
I should say that I do not understand from this document
what is meant to happen to spam.
I understand that a Spam header is added,
but what actually happens to email

[squid-users] debian Jessie squid with auth (kerberos/ntlm/basic) ERROR type NTLM type 3
Hai Amos,
Thank you for your very clear responce.. few small questions..
Is there a way to setup the proxy for the following.
1) use negotiate kerberos for auth, ( which is working already for all domain joined machines )
2) use a fall back that works, for now basic ldap works for non windows machines, and domain joined machines.
3) use any other fallback way for authentication users on windows
