CentOS 7 and systemd: SysV initscript: how detect boot vs. interactive use?
Moving from CentOS 5 to CentOS 7, discovered that a test in a SysV initscript for whether it is running interactively, instead of at boot time, no longer works. Under CentOS 7 / systemd, is there some way for the initscript to know this?

Cannot %include in CentOS 5.5 kickstart
I've previously used includes in CentOS 4.4 and they worked fine. But in CentOS 5.5, trying to specify a driver disk via an include does not work. If I instead specify it directly, it loads fine. When it fails (because it can't see the disk drive - needs the driver disk to see the hard disk), in Console 2 I can see that /tmp/drvdisk exists and has the line I wrote to it. I see nothing

CentOS 5.7 Ethernet bonding - order of enslavement matters?
Setting up bonding in active-backup mode 1 (using ARP monitoring) on a server, it looked OK, but pulling the active link cable didn't actually work, it didn't fail over. Eventually with manual playing around with modprobe, ifconfig, ifenslave, etc., a solution was stumbled upon: enslave the eth1 device before eth0, and all is good. Why this should matter is a puzzle - I could not find

Occasional network flakiness
Hi all! Just become a xen user and this is my first post to the list. Just installed xen on SuSE 9 Enterprise and got it working. It is great! I love it. The bridging seems to be a little flaky when the domU''s are running dhcp. It seems that when the domU''s start up, the dhcp client is not ready to get the IP. The domU''s come up without an IP. After rebooting the

DomU occasional Boot hang
Hi folks, I am using Xen on M3A mother board from Assus (64 bit CPU - X4). All the instances are running CentOS 5.1. There is no monitor attached to the server and all the outputs (GRUB, Kernel, Terminals) are sent to the serial console. Everything works fine except when I try to boot up an instance from Dom0, it hangs during the boot sequence occasionally (rather more often than just

Bug#446708: xen-utils-common: occasional failures in "xm list"
Package: xen-utils-common Severity: minor Version: 3.0.3-0-2 During a domU state transition (at least on domU shutdown), "xm list" seems to occasionally fail. This is only intermittent, but it could cause problems if there are automated tools (or unaware humans) inspecting the output or return codes of "xm list". here's a recent transcript (the numbers preceding the bash

occasional ssh hang
I am noticing the same problem with 'ssh host uptime' hanging. Did this ever get resolved? I am using OpenSSH on Redhat 6.2 (Intel) and Solaris 2.6 (Sparc). I have a job on the linux machine that ssh's to the Solaris machine every 20 seconds or so and runs uptime. The problem is that after many iterations of this, ssh will occasionally hang, and require a kill -9 to get rid of

IL-2 Occasional Freezes
Hi everyone, I just wiped XP off my old Dell D610 and loaded Ubuntu 10.10... it runs like a brand new machine! (If if weren't for compatibility issues I would do the same to my netbook right away!) Anyway to test out Wine I installed IL-2 1946, patched up to 4.10m. With a little tweaking it is running like a dream, save one minor issues. Occasionally the program hiccups with what looks

Occasional SMS problem
Hi, I am using asterisk's SMS functionality for sending messages. Most of the time it works without problems (as in situation 1) but sometimes something seems to go wrong with the transmission (as in situation 2). I am using "Deutsche Telekom", Germany's main TELCO, so I suppose the problem must be on my end. Can anybody tell me what is going on or how I could narrow down

Occasional robotic sound while call in progress
We have an application that plays a variety of sound files on one leg of a call (generated by a call file). We've been told that the party listening to the audio files intermittantly hears "robotic" sounding audio (on/off during the same call). Anyone have ideas on cause? These calls are on an internal network (lots of network bandwidth), and from a server running 99% idle.

Occasional faults - CentOS server running subversion
Dear All, I've got a small server at work, built from a Via Epia SP 8000E mini-ITX motherboard and a Seagate SATA hard drive. The application of this server is to provide versioned file storage, using subversion. I'm running CentOS, with Apache 2 and SSL to provide controlled access to the subversion repositories. There have been two problems with this machine:- Problem 1 Every once
