Xen and EVMS/Raid5 - Null pointer dereference
Hi, A problem with EVMS and Xen: I have patched a 2.6 kernel with the evms patches and then with the Xen patched, compiled and installed it. (kernel is 2.6.11.9 - which is what this server has been running for the past few months w/o the evms patches) At first everything seems to work just fine, I am able to use evms to create a new "volume", in this case it is based on MD/RAID-5 but

EVMS?
EVMS Enterprise Volume Management System sounds interesting, looks like it supported CentOS4, but not CentOS5. But maybe I'm not looking in the right places. -- Drew Einhorn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Good tutorial about using heartbeat2, ocfs2 and evms with xen 3.x
Hi all Sombedody can points me to a good tutorial about using high availabilty clusters with xen using heratbeat2, ocfs2 and evms under rhel/centos, debian or sles?? I am doing various searches without a result ... (google shows me a lot of references, mailing lists, etc but not a good doc) Many thanks. -- CL Martinez carlopmart {at} gmail {d0t} com

lvm / raidN / evms
The tools for raidN (mdadm and friends) don't seem to compile with klibc. Has anyone tackled that, lvm or evms yet in a klibc-based initramfs, or do you usually include uclibc or something when it comes time to get fancy (also, looking ahead to crypto-root and such) Tks, Jeff Bailey

SELinux + EVMS + Xen - anyone done it?
Hi, I have seen a few posts on the list from people who were working on this. If anyone has succeeded can you please drop me a line with some notes on your boot process and the initrd creation process please? I seem to have the bits all working individually, but I can''t quite figure out how to get Xen kernel to boot up and start my EVMS stuff under Gentoo. At the moment I have been

raid1 creation :: not large enough to join array

I have 2 identical hdd (1002FBYS) with the same firmware, etc .. really identical! when i try to add the second hdd to this raid1 array i have the message that /dev/sdb is not large enough to join array!! on the first hdd i have 100 mb unpartitioned at the end of disk (as i understood that mdadm put there some info...) Anyone, any idea what can be wrong? i already done this procees several

Expanding RAID 10 array, WAS: 40TB File System Recommendations
On 4/13/11, Rudi Ahlers <Rudi at softdux.com> wrote: >> to expand the array :) > > I haven't had problems doing it this way yet. I finally figured out my mistake creating the raid devices and got a working RAID 0 on two RAID 1 arrays. But I wasn't able to add another RAID 1 component to the array with the error mdadm: add new device failed for /dev/md/mdr1_3 as 2:

unexpected raid1 behavior?
Hi, I''m starting to play with btrfs on my new computer. I''m running Gentoo and have compiled the 2.6.31 kernel, enabling btrfs. Now I have 2 partitions (on 2 different sata disks) that are free for me to play with, each about 375 gb in size. I wanted to create a "raid1" volume using these two partitions, so I did: # mkfs.btrfs -d raid1 /dev/sda5 /dev/sdb5 # mount

Raid1 degraded mode
I am trying to understand how btrfs works with Raid1. Is it possible to create the filesystem with -m raid1 -d raid1 in which there is only one device available when the filesystem is created. Is it possible to refer to a second device as "missing" The use case I am thinking of is converting an existing raid1 setup from mdm + lvm + ext4 to btrfs with raid1 and subvolumes. I would

Software RAID1 issue
When a new system CentOS-4.4 is built the swap partition is always reversed... Note md3 below, the raidtab is OK, I have tried various raid commands to correct. swapoff -a raidstop /dev/md3 mkraid /dev/md3 --really-force swapon -a And then I get a proper ourput for /proc/mdstat, but when I reboot /proc/mdstat again reads as below, with md3 [0] [1] reversed. [root]# cat /proc/mdstat

Between single/dup and raid1/raid1
Hello, today I wanted to remove one drive from raid1, and people at #btrfs advised me to use ''-dconvert=single'' before ''btrfs device delete''. I thought of adding ''-mconvert=dup'' too, but the kernel does not let me do that. It looks like ''dup'' is disallowed for an array of multiple devices. So, to go back to a single-drive

strangest thing with Raid1 and samba
Hi everyone, I am having the strangest thing on my debian server with raid1 configuration. Having it setup so that there are 2 partitions (both raid1) on one disk. On the first partition is debian/linux and the second the /home(this is about 270G. I am unable to map a share to the second partition. The error is just the same as if you create a share and edit a wrong "path ="

Upgrading system from non-RAID to RAID1
I plan to upgrade an existing C7 computer which currently has one 256 GB SSD to use mdadmin software RAID1 after adding two 4 TB M2. SSDs, the rest of the system remaining the same. The system also has one additional internal and one external harddisk but these should not be touched. The system will continue to run C7. If I remember correctly, the existing SSD does not use a M2. slot so they

Possible bug with latest 7.3 installer, md RAID1, and SATADOM.
Is there a reason you are not using the built in controller to RAID the SATADOMs? As I remember on SuperMicro there are two controllers. One for the SATADOMs and another for the conventional disks. Mounting RAID1 writeable with two devices missing but all data present
Hi, I have potentially found a (minor) bug (or missing feature) in btrfs, but it might be a misunderstanding, so I like to ask here first before reporting in Bugzilla. I have a btrfs file system in RAID1 mode with two missing devices, but I know that all data is still present on the remaining device. btrfs refuses mounting this fs in rw mode (too many missing devices), as it probably just counts

raid1 custom initrd and yum
OK sorry to hammer the list but one more question - having almost got the drives mirrored and happy - since I have created a custom initrd that has the raid1 drivers in it, do I now have to tell yum to ignore kernel updates? Will the stock kernel render me unbootable? Actually I am not 100% sure the initrd I created # mkinitrd -f --preload=raid1 /mnt/tmp/initrd-`uname -r`.img `uname -r` is
