Centosplus kernel does not have framebuffer support?
I'm still using CentOS 4.6, but have been planning an upgrade to CentOS 5 for quite a while. One of the things that was holding me back is that the CentOS 5.0 kernel did not have the framebuffer support enabled by default. So I waited for CentOS 5.1. However, on one of my test systems I ran into the bad NFS performance issue (see CentOS bug 2635), so I plan to use the centosplus

VGA boot options in XEN kernel
Hi all, I've got a new LCD 19" monitor. It's a good device, but I always work into a shell environment, so the fonts size is too big for comfortable activity. I've tried to increase the resolution adding the vga=VALUE parameter in kernel-xen line, but it seems not work. Some useful info: [root at horus ~]# uname -a Linux horus 2.6.18-8.1.6.el5xen #1 SMP Thu Jun 14 18:01:24

IMP: Release 4.0: CentOS 6 packages will not be made available
Gluster Users, This is to inform you that from the 4.0 release onward, packages for CentOS 6 will not be built by the gluster community. This also means that the CentOS SIG will not receive updates for 4.0 gluster packages. Gluster release 3.12 and its predecessors will receive CentOS 6 updates till Release 4.3 of gluster (which is slated around Dec, 2018). The decision is due to the following,

how to check as CRAN with alternative BLAS?
One of my packages is slated to be archived from CRAN due to failures when the ATLAS BLAS is used. I am unable to replicate the error on my machine under R 3.6.1 using the atlas library from ubuntu (seems to be 3.10.2-9, while the good professor is using 3.10.3 per https://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/Rblas/README.txt ). I also tried the rocker/r-base with R 3.6.2 and

Play static file before stream
Hi everyone, I'm new to icecast and would like to know if it is possible to play a static file before a stream. I would very much like to accomplish this from icecast rather than a playlist, as the playlist can be bypassed. Is it possible to direct icecast to play mountpoints sequentially? My initial thoughts were to create 2 mountpoints, 1 for the static file and 1 for the stream, then have

selinux prohibiting sssd usage
I've got a CentOS 6 machine that's slated to go into production providing some web and development-repository services. Part of the environment is gitweb, which works as expected with one glitch: SELinux doesn't allow gitweb.cgi to query sssd to display who owns the repositories. The audit log entries are pretty straightforward, e.g., type=AVC msg=audit(XXXXXXXXXXXX): avc:

Lost in translation - Rails 2.0 Nested Resources, Custom Actions
The shift to the :has_many and :has_one options when defining nested resource routes has me perplexed. The block format allows me to define custom REST actions like publish in the example below: map.resources :users do |user| user.resources :articles, :member => { :publish => :put } end It also allows for multiple levels of nesting if necessary. What I''d really like to

A few questions regarding CentOS (5.0)
Hello list, I'm a former Trustix User (were active in that community since the very first betas), and now that my dear distro is dead, I'm looking to make a switch.. Several people recommended CentOS, so I decided to give it a spin.. I installed one new server with 5.0 a few months back, and I do have a couple of questions.. - Why does the screen flicker on and off several times
