Samba & subnets
Hi
We have two subnets with routing tables correctly set up so they can both
ping to our Sun Solaris Box.
193.71.221
191.9.211
The Sun Solaris box lives on 193.71.221.1 and all PCs on that subnet can map
to the Sun box without any problems. All PCs on the 191.9.211 cannot
connect to the samba drives giving the error "Network not Found". Any help
would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Text/Binary Files. HELP!!!
I am sure someone must have come across this.
Is it possible to force files to binary when copying to Unix directories.
NT -> Unix. Text Files have got ^M in them. How do we prevent this
happening. Would forcing to binary fix the problem & if so how would this
be done?
Thanks

File Lock Timeout
Hi,
I've seen posts (but no answers) about clearing a file lock on a Samba share. Presumably this kind of thing happens when the program abnormally terminates and doesn't close its open files.
I've got a file that smbstatus reports as:
1216 DENY_WRITE 0x20089 RDONLY NONE /shares/share1/Files/december.xls Fri Jan 12 12:51:30 2007

Ajax.Updater on a select list not updating correctly in IE7 (fine in FireFox)
Hi all,
Been working with prototype and script.aculo.us now for around 3 days
after never really touching javascript so I am still getting to grips
with things.
So far I have successfully created 4 ajax based functions, or so I
thought until I stupidly showed a client one of them before I had
tested it in IE.
The function in question works fine in FireFox succesfully inserting
any new values

PJSIP/SIPAddHeader etc
Hi everyone
I’m building an Asterisk 16/PJSIP server and my dialplan uses SIPAddHeader & SIPRemoveHeader but the apps don’t appear to be installed in v16.
Can anyone tell me where they went and how to get them installed please?
Thanks
Mark.

Shared Folders via Symlinking
Hi folks,
I'm trying to set up shared folders via symlinking and have come across a problem. I created a folder for one user, then symlinked it to another. I figured that one thing that is likely to happen at some point is that user 2 is going to decide they don't want to look at that folder any more, and will delete it, so I tried this. Much to my relief, it didn't delete the actual

Nomogram after Cox Random Effect (frailty) model
Dear R-users,
I am a novice R-user with some experience in using the RMS package for taking nomograms after various survival models.
This time, I am trying to plot a nomogram after a Random Effects Cox, implemented by the "coxme" package. My questions are:
1. Is it possible to take a nomogram directly after the coxme survival function?
2. If not is there a way to take the linear

"Too many levels of symbolic links" with glusterfs automounting
I set up a 3.3 gluster volume for another sysadmin and he has added it
to his cluster via automount. It seems to work initially but after some
time (days) he is now regularly seeing this warning:
"Too many levels of symbolic links"
$ df: `/share/gl': Too many levels of symbolic links
when he tries to traverse the mounted filesystems.
I've been using gluster with static mounts

Wine is very slow
Hi,
I'm trying to perform a installation of FF8 with wine, but the installation is very slow.
About 2h to perform 10% of the install. Is there any reason about that ? I've a good configuration so it's not the fault of my pc.
Second, no network connexion is available. Can I make it works ?
Thx for your help.

kernel parameters for improving gluster writes on millions of small writes (long)
This is a continuation of my previous posts about improving write perf
when trapping millions of small writes to a gluster filesystem.
I was able to improve write perf by ~30x by running STDOUT thru gzip
to consolidate and reduce the output stream.
Today, another similar problem, having to do with yet another
bioinformatics program (which these days typically handle the 'short
reads' that

CVE-2018-1002105
There was a critical vulnerability in Kubernetes published earlier in the week - CVE-2018-1002105.
The vulnerability has been patched both the upstream project and by TUV, but the fix doesn't seem to have made it into the CentOS OpenShift build for 3.11:
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/paas/x86_64/openshift-origin311/
The fixed version is 3.11.43, version on the mirror is 3.11.0.

How Fatal? "Server and Client lk-version numbers are not same, reopening the fds"
Despite Joe Landman's sage advice to the contrary, I'm trying to
convince an IPoIB volume to service requests from a GbE client via
some /etc/hosts manipulation. (This may or may not be related to the
automount problems we're having as well.)
This has worked (and continues to work) well on another cluster with a
slightly older version of gluster - the 3.3.0qa42 version on both server

Replay-gain
Hello everyone, I'm new to this flac thing (started about a week ago) but I have read a lot about flac and replaygain. As far as I understand it, replaygain is lossless in the sense that I can tell my player to ignore the settings or I can even use foobar2000 to remove the tags entirely, hence getting back to the original audio.
If that is the case, why is there a warning in the foobar2000

Browse.dat not syncing
I'm not sure where else to turn for this, I've seen this problem mentioned
in a multiple places but haven't seen any resolution for it. Below is
what's showing up in my remote samba WINS server. My setup is that I've got
the samba servers connecting through a dedicated VPN. I've set up the WINS
to allow for browsing across the VPN. If anyone can help me out or point me

missing. In fact my clients have to have DNS turned on in addition to WINS in

Stale NFS file handle
Hi, I'm a bit curious of error messages of the type "remote operation

Gluster Native Client, so why should stale nfs file handle be reported?
