Autocomplete GetToken??
Hi, I needing to modify the control.js file and am confused about what the purpose of the getToken function is. I read the docs section below and still don''t understand why it doesn''t just access the form.value directly. Docs say: This method should get the text for which to provide autocompletion by invoking this.getToken(), NOT by directly accessing this.element.value. This is

Autocompleter.Local problem/desparate plea for help...
I have been trying to write a selector function for Autocompleter.Local that will show a predefined Array and will scroll automatically to the first match. I have had success with with getting my list to populate and show all of the choices, however I cannot get it to scroll to the first match. Since I build the JS Array I can know exactly how many items are in the list going into my selector,

Really easy field validation with Prototype Help
Hello, I''m trying to implement this. The problem that I am having is that the form submits via an Ajax call and I can figure out how to get the validation code to return false if something failed validation. Below is the link to the webpage but I see nothing on how to have it call a function when everything is valid.

Display Images from URL in Database
I am only 3 days into rails, so please excuse the stupid question. I am trying to access my database named Movies. I am using a table named movie. I would like to pull the table entry with field vname=rawr, and then take this entry''s field vpic, and use that vpic (assume its a url to an image) to display an image. To begin with, I am having problems with displaying an image with

RE: Leak in the Autocompleter, with scrollable result-div ?
Hi Ed The reason it adds a new onblur is because when you click the scrollbar the event is gone. I dont know why and how to prevent it, but without adding it back the onblur does not get triggered and the layer does not hide when you click somewhere else on the page. If anyone finds a better solution, please provide a patch. I still have not been able to make the blur work on Safari, so Thomas

Re: Rails-spinoffs] Ajax.Updater asynchronous => false
I just ran into this very problem myself. Yes, this is a bug in prototype. If you look in the code you will see that the relevent handlers and callbacks simply aren''t called with a synchronous request (onComplete is similarly not called). I submitted a patch <http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4657> over at dev.rubyonrails.org which fixes this behavior. If you decide to check it

Fwd: [Ruby on Rails] #5181: Autocomplete: How do i format the text in the drop down?
Howdy... How can the text be formated on the downloadable sample (\scriptaculous-js-1.6.1\test\functional\ajax_autocompleter2_test.html)? In your downloadable demo... the format of the drop down (in the txt area) is a ordered list.. where and how is this formatted? and is it possible to use a CSS on it? If so.. how would i do that? I like the formatting you have on your demo

Possible new rsync bug
Hello, I think I found a bug in rsync. I checked the TODO and the issues, but I didn't find any reference to it. It seems, that rsync goofes up, if you rename a directory and then create a symlink with the old name to the new location. Below is a simple example how to do it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ptriller] elmore:~/test > ls

Autocompleter enhancement feature request
Hello, I have created a ticket for an enhancement of the autocompleter to show the options immediately when the field gets focus. Right now at least one character must be typed for autocomplete to kick in. http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/5435 I have also made some code changes directly in the script Event.observe(this.element, "blur", this.onBlur.bindAsEventListener(this));
