METADATA for v2.2.7
In case someone wants to try: http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.2/rev/0a08efeb3f40 The commit message lists the TODO. So for example if you want to enable it just for webmail (because quota limits aren?t there yet): mail_attribute_dict = file:%h/dovecot-attributes local 10.0.0.0/24 { imap_metadata = yes } Compared to the old metadata plugin, there are some improvements: - Uses lib-storage

Member server of Samba PDC
PDC RH9 running v2.2.7-a-8.9.0 from RH Member RH73 running v2.2.7-3.7.3 from RH both are up to date with regards to RH Would like the Member server to authenticate against the PDC rather than locally to itself causing me to keep auth all synced up between the two. Yes LDAP is an option as we already use it, but was waiting for ver 3 to go down this road as we don't like to compile because of

Logon Script Doesn't
Hi, I've finally been dragged kicking and screaming into the wonderful world of XP. I've been able to join a domain and login with the help of the docs on samba.org and gleaning info from this list. Google and I don't get along. My question is How do I get the logon script to run when XP logs in? Win 98 doesn't have a problem running the logon script. Here is part of the

Outlook 2007 & 2010 hangs in v2.2?
Has anybody noticed Outlook 2007 & 2010 (but apparently not 2013) hanging IMAP connections with Dovecot v2.2 (but not v2.1) when they're FETCHing large mails? I can't think of any reasonable explanation for this.

domain users in local groups
Can I actually create a "Domain Users" group on my samba server and add users to it like I did with the Domain Admins group? That would be easier than adding each user individually on each folder that they need to access... (It's always easier to add DOMAIN\Domain Users instead of DOMAIN\User1 DOMAIN\User2...etc) Or just add Domain Users to the local Power Users group. Jim

Win2K/XP, oplocks, and readahead.
Hi! I'm working with Samba backed by a high performance filesystem. From a Windows 2K and Windows XP client I'm trying to achieve very high speed single file throughput over GigE from the Windows client using either open/write or CreateFile/ReadFile APIs. I'd rather not venture into overlapped IO there so that we don't have to recommend that all our customers rewrite their

Eudora slow moving from samba 1.9.18p10 to latest
We are (only just) upgrading from Samba 1.9.18p10 to the latest 2.2.7a. We run Eudora 5.1 on our PC clients, which pick up their mail boxes from home directories on Solaris machines using samba shares. When we install the new Samba, all our Samba clients slow down incredibly. I suspect here is a change in the Samba config file requirements between the versions? Has anyone else already solved

Computer in Samba 4.3.11 domain - logon server unavailable
We've a Samba 4 domain (no AD, just DC) with LDAP backend on Ubuntu 14.04. This server has been migrated from files backend to LDAP by the previous maintainer, I know the version is pretty old but we cannot update at the moment. The domain works fine with some W7 and W10 (updated from 7) computers, but we have purchased a new Lenovo laptop with Win10 which joined the domain seamlessly but

Asterisk uses 3 seconds to send ACK after OK
Hello! We recently upgraded one of our customers from 1.4.44 to 1.8.15-cert1. We have several other customers running both versions. The customer in question does not use us as their provider as they?re located in a different country. When they make outgoing calls, there is a 3 second delay between answering the call and the call being established. When debugging this, I found that Asterisk

OCFS - Automounts
Greetings, I installed RedHat Linux AS version 3/Update 3 over the weekend, along with ocfs RPMs that are listed below: ocfs-2.4.21-EL-smp-1.0.13-1.i686.rpm ocfs-support-1.0.10-1.i386.rpm ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1.i386.rpm Oracle 10g was then installed on the systems. On both the test cluster that I used and the production cluster that I installed over the weekend are some pretty strange lines

Samba / LDAP / Idmap
Hi, This is probably documented somewhere very obvious but I do not seem to be able to find it. Many years ago I configured my Samba server with an LDAP backend. I also put in the parameter 'ldap idmap suffix = ou=Idmap' in my smb.conf file too as per: <http://au1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/domain- member.html#id2571568> Amazingly enough I now have to add
