Anonymous function variable scope issue
Hey all,
I joined this list mostly because I don''t see too much in the OO
javascript arena, and I have q''s (of course).
I have a little pet project I am working on, you can see it here:
http://thinkof.net/notify/index.html
I have a class Notify.Alert() that takes some options and displays a
div alert instead of a javascript one. Currently it is configurable
to allow

Element.observe () binding
Hey all,
I working on a project, but I am not sure I can do what I want to
do. The following works beautifully:
Event.observe(el, ''click'', function () { this.className += "
myClass"; return false; });
I have also tried doing this:
this.varname = ''test'';
Event.observe(el, ''click'', function () { alert (this.varname); }.bind

Drag and drop events. Or: How I learned to take over the world.
Hey all,
First, I just want to say thanks to all of you who read, and email
here frequently. So "Thanks".
Second, I have a little pet project. This one has not timelines,
and is mainly meant for my own personal growth and javascript
goodness. It is a drag and drop game, and it may not be 100%
possible to do everything I want with it. But that has not stopped
me from

cleanWhitespace and parentNode
Hey cats,
I seem to have ran into a problem in IE trying to use parentNode with
the cleanWhitespace method.
doing something like:
var div = $(''mydiv'');
Element.cleanWhitespace(div);
works really great, but try doing:
var div = $(''mydiv'');
Element.cleanWhitespace(div.parentNode);
or
var div = $(''mydiv'');
div = div.parentNode;

{ afterfinish }
Hi,
1. can someone give me an example usage of { afterfinish: }? I tried several
ways and just can''t get it. I was trying to deploy an effect after another
one had finished and just couldn''t do it.
Effect.dropout (myElement, {afterfinish: function(element) {
Effect.Appear(anotherElement); } } );
a) why doesn''t this work?
b) what''s the element argument for?

Waiting For Completion
I am writing an application that will display a series of images.
When a link is clicked the images will fade away, and new images will
fade in.
I am starting by trying to simply fade the images out then back in
through a function:
function ChangeImage() {
Effect.BlindDown(''MyElement'',{duration:0.5});
Effect.BlindUp(''MyElement'',{duration:0.5});
}

Extended $ function called $$
This code lets you use standard CSS selectors to get an array of elements.
For example, $$("#container div.myElements") would return all subelements of
#container that are divs and are of the class myElements.
I submitted similar code a while back to the email address for the prototype
library but never got a reply. Thought I''d post this in the hopes that some
others will find

Event.observe(myelement, ''click'', myfunc.bindAsEventListener());
That might fix your wagon.

cloneNode not draggable in IE
Here''s the problem: I have a div, id=mydiv, which I clone using:
var clonedDiv = document.getElementById(''mydiv'').cloneNode(true);
I then set the id to be mynewdiv:
cloneDiv.id = "mynewdiv"; //not using setAttribute to accomodate IE
I then remove the original div:
Element.remove(document.getElementById(''mydiv''));
I then insert the new

Initial load time when periodically_call_remote
When I do periodically_call_remote with e.g. :frequency => 30
after initial page load I have to wait 30 seconds until this partial
renders first time. Does anybody know how to make ROR to render partial
on web page load, and then start periodic calls every 30 seconds? I
tried to put
<div id=''mydiv''><%= render(:partial, :action=>''myaction'')

How to manage one to many within application.
Hi,
I have an application with a customer model, and an address model. A
customer has a one to many relationship with an address. I currently
have an add new customer page, that incorporates an "add address"
button, which places a helper form within a div using the link_to_remote
function. I can click the add address button multiple times, and it will
add multiple address

Strange indexing behavior on HTML emails ..
Hi,
In continuation to the issue I had posted about long back:
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2014-August/097362.html
I did further testing today on a fresh new Debian & latest Dovecot and
observed a undesired behavior. I am using fts_lucene & following
sequence of commands on a empty test account me at myself.com:
doveadm expunge -u 'my at myself.com' mailbox

AJAX in conjunction with partials
All,
Trying to clear up some confusion on my part.
If I make an Ajax call using Ajax.Request and in the controller method
that I call, I do a render (:partial => ''whatever.rhtml''), should I
expect that ''whatever.rhtml'' will be rendered in the browser or not?
Put another way, is it in any way reasonable for me to think that
Ajax.Request + partial render

Element.addMethods functions swallowing exceptions (IE6 + 7)
IE6 and IE7 are not correctly handling the ''throw'' command for
functions attached to Element via Element.addMethods. Firefox and
Safari are fine.
See the example below.
For IE6: functions called with no attributes (ie: funcName())
correctly handle thrown errors. Funcions called with attributes (ie:
funcName("foo")) will respond to the throw command and pass execution

Trusted HP-UX 10.26
I haven't noticed any work on Trusted HP-UX 10.26 in the archives (then
again maybe I missed it). I have made changes to get sshd working on
trusted HP-UX, ssh already worked. I can supply a patch, but before I did I
was wondering if it is best to send the patch to this list, or file it as a
bug report? The patch is just around 6k, and includes changes to
configure.ac and acconfig.h, allong

fnmatch, getopt_long for module-init-tools
Halo,
fnmatch() and getopt_long are necessary to compile module-init-tools
with klibc out of the box.
Would you consider accepting patches to implement those 2 functions? Can
we use the bsd libc functions? is the lisence acceptable to you?
