Create Local CentOS 5.1 repo
I am trying to create a local base repo from the DVD on a webserver as I am not able to install with the x64 DVD. I have done this before I recall by placing the DVD contents in the root of an empty webserver, but I have many existing repo's on this current server and so I wanted to maintain the existing hierarchy structure. I tried using the createrepo command and neither that nor copying

OT: Local Mirror problems, wrong paths to RPMs with yum update
This week I set up a local mirror for a few dists, including Centos 4.0 and 4.2, and Fedora Core 3 and 4. I'm using a script called yum-pull. For the most part I really like the script, it automates the setup of your mirrors and tries a bunch of different mirrors when it goes out to get updates, if it fails on one it tries another. It uses the usual suspects, createrepo and repoview, among

Local yum mirror and repomd.xml
Hey, So, I'm having a minor issue. Today, I configured one of our CentOS systems to use our local mirror (mirror.clarkson.edu) for its repositories. After doing this, I ran a yum update and received the following warning in the output along with the updates available: Not using downloaded repomd.xml because it is older than what we have: Current : Thu May 7 14:41:57 2009 Downloaded:

EL7 mirror: "There is no installed groups file."
I installed the RHEL 7 beta here to test while waiting for CentOS 7 to arrive. On noticing that yum didn't work, I decided to set up a local mirror. I rsync'd ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel/beta/7/x86_64/os/Packages/ to a local web server here, then regenerated the repodata directory with createrepo. Now yum works fine, for the most part. "yum search foo" pulls

Jigdo, etc...
Hi folks, I've just finished rsyncing/downloading/jigdoizing the entire i386/x86_64 CentOS 4.2 distribution. If anyone is interested go to http://mirror.tcs.ii.uj.edu.pl/jigdo/ You'll need to edit the .jigdo file by hand to change the server section [Servers] CentOS42=file:/opt/mirrors/centos/4.2/ to point to a local mirror (file, http or ftp), ie. to use kernel.org: [Servers]

yum repository and createrepo
I've setup a local yum repository for about 25 workstations and I'm using rsync from a local mirror. Do I need to create my own XML headers, i.e. the 'repodata' directory, or since I'm syncing the whole updates directory can I use the 'repodata' directory from the mirror? I also have a question on using createrepo. The directory layout is: ~/updates/

Local repo sqlite files?
Hi all, I'm updating a customised CentOS 5.2 repo to 5.4. After running createrepo, I find all the usual .xml.gz files updated, but the sqlite.bz2 files have not been touched. What is the significance of these files? If they need to be updated, how is it done? -r--r--r-- 1 user group 1811 Oct 1 2009 TRANS.TBL -rw-r--r-- 1 user group 1050329 May 12 11:04 comps.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 user

yum update fails for 5.6
google for "centos error performing checksum" refers to createrepo but of course "yum install createrepo" also fails and the instructions appear to be overkill. Is there a "simple" soultion? here's the result of yum update: # yum -v update Loading "fastestmirror" plugin Config time: 0.118 Yum Version: 3.2.22 Setting up Package Sacks Loading mirror

createrepo command for 6.4 respin
Hi List, I have been searching for the correct createrepo command to make a 6.4 respin. We have been doing this with previous versions using createrepo -u "media://$discinfo" -g ${DIR}/my_kickstart${VER}/comps.xml . Which had worked fine until now. Creating a personal repo
Hello, I'm wanting to create a yum repo for what is at this point rpm development for personal use, i might eventually open it up but right now i have some rpms i need to debug. I've installed createrepo but the docs i've read indicate that i have to install the base distros rpms, in repos i've seen via a webview they only had packages that they built in the repo. Thanks. Dave.

CentOS 6 update issues
Hello all, I manage a few servers overseas that are running CentOS 6. When performing a yum update, it fails because it's trying to download from: mirror.centos.org/centos/*6.6*/extras/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml Which fails due to the fact that the entire 6.6 directory is empty on all of the mirrors I have checked. From what I can tell it should be using:

Headers update frequency in local repo
Hi all, I'm trying to build a local repo as a mirror of basic repos ([Basic], [Update],[Addons], [Extras],[CentOSPlus]) and popular third part repos ([Dries],[DAG] and [kbs]). The doubt I have is ?Is needed that I regenerate the repo headers [1] every time when I've updated the local mirror repo [2]? [1] Eliminate old headers and generate new ones with createrepo script.
