rsync Windows to opensolaris or linux
I know this subject has been covered a fair bit here but I'm getting
confused with the vast array of possible options I've seen in various
cmdlines posted here, and the vast (and sometimes confusing) rsync
manual.
Can someone show me the simplest case to allow rsync to push data from
a windows XP or vista machine onto an opensolaris host using rsync on
cygwin?

NV43: Native resolution not available on Dell 2007FP
I have a Dell 2007FP monitor. NV43 (GeForce 6600) can not use the native
resolution.
1600x1200 is listed under "DDC gathered Modelines" with the rest of the
info, but then is missing from "probed modes".
I have a secondary card, NV4a (GeForce 6200, PCI). It works with this
card. This card does not show "DDC gathered modelines" at all, and
1600x1200 is listed

More CentOS5 nVidia fun
In the vein of the "Can't get resolution higher than 1280x1024" and
"Another CentOS 5 oddity..." threads, I just installed CentOS5 w/Xen
kernel on a Sony VAIO desktop with an nVidia NV5M64 (RIVA TNT2 64 Pro)
card, using an old Samsung SyncMaster 700NF monitor.
system-config-display chose the highest possible resolution for the
monitor and Xorg did its best to drive it, but

Centos 5 - Setting up yum for ATrpms
I think I found one of my setup problems. I followed instructions at: http://atrpms.net/install.html
And now I see that the information shown there to put into yum.conf (that I put into yum.repo.d/atrpms.repo) is only for FC, not for RL5 (thus Centos 5).
What do I use in my atrmps.repo to get it to access the RL5 directories?

timeout when accessing atrpms repo
Hello,
I'm using centos5 and i just started noticing a timeout msg when running
a yum update. It occurs with the atrpms repo, has anyone else seen this?
Thanks.

Trying to understand Suspend 2
I am trying to understand Suspend 2 and what I have to do to get it
working in Centos 5. There is quite a bit for it at ATrpms:
http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/hibernate-suspend2/
http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/kernel-suspend2/
The later is the kernel patches that they refer to at the Suspend2
website, so I don't have to recompile the kernel?
I noticed that over at:

Configuring atrpms repo?
Afternoon,
Sorry for being dense but I can seem to configure the repo for atrpms
correctly. I've tried a few things and none of them seem to work so
rather than embarrass myself in regard to yum repo configuration, can
someone post the repo configuration?
TIA!

Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all.
I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find
a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed
all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed.
Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now?
Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry
it's a little bit long:

ATrpms repo
Tried mailing the maintainer, but didn't get a response -- anyone know
what's happened to the ATrpms repo?
Not only is
http://atrpms.net/name/dovecot/
empty, but:
http://packages.atrpms.net/dist/el6/
seems to return a 404. Some of the mirrors still have the packages, but
does anyone know if they're going to continue to build 2.2.x packages?

Guys, what is the best way of arranging the repos with regards to their priority? Any ideas, especially for all non base ones?

/etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/kbs-extras.repo

possible corrupt rpm database
Hello,
I've got a centos5 box that at least has a dependency issue or a corrupt
rpm database. I am open to suggestions as to how to proceed. I have added
some extra repositories to my yum configuration, centosplus, rpmforge,
atrpms, and the kbs repos. I haven't been having issues with installs or
upgrades until today when i ran a yum update, and got a missing dependency
error for

pm-utils - ATrpms updates a system package on the stable branch
I performed a clean minimal CentOS 5.2 install, fully updated the
system, and then added the ATrpms repository. When I perform an update
after adding the ATrpms repository, the package pm-utils is updated the
the ATrpms repository. My understanding is there should not have been
any updates as the stable version does not update system packages, right?

Yum + priorities plugin question
Hello all!
I've recently started using the priorities plugin as part of my best
practices. It's very effective, and prevents nasty things from
happening (like atrpms upgrading python and disabling yum.)
I'm wondering if there's a simple and elegant way to allow
package-name-based exclusions. For example: For my mysql cluster, I'd
prefer to have the latest mysql and

Is ATRPMs dead?
Haven't been able to reach atrpms.net for over a week from London, UK,
when i last looked for it after a couple of intervening months. Did i
miss something?
And if atrpms is truly defunct, where's a good place to obtain updated
versions of vlc and mplayer now?
thanks!

atrpms nvidia cannot load
Hi guys - brand new 5.1 install here and quite happy - but...
The nv driver did not work at all for me, fritzy stripes and dots. This is a
GeForce 7300 LE which was working happily dual-head under FC6 with the livna
nvidia RPMs
So I looked around and it seemed like the ATRpms repo via yum was the best
option for CentOS. This is what I installed, it worked great with the
