[PATCH] efi/main: add retry to exit_boot()
I am a UEFI/BIOS developer. We UEFI PXE boot dozens of times per night. We have run into this error more than a couple of times. We have also done thousands of UEFI PXE boots with debug statements to prove that the patch works. [PATCH] efi/main: add retry to exit_boot()
Sometimes the UEFI memory map changes between GetMemoryMap() and ExitBootServices(), making the MapKey value incorrect. Per the UEFI spec, the memory map should then be fetched again and exiting retried. [PATCH] Call ExitBootServices twice
From: Sylvain Gault <sylvain.gault at gmail.com> On some architecture, including my hardware, the function ExitBootServices may need to be called twice in order to successfully exit the boot services. As stated by the UEFI spec, the first call to ExitBootServices may perform a partial shutdown of the services. It seems that during this partial shutdown, the memory map can be modified, thus

CentOS Linux, CentOS Stream and the Boot Hole vulnerability
We are aware of the Boot Hole vulnerability in grub2 (CVE-2020-1073) and are working on releasing new packages for CentOS Linux 7, CentOS Linux 8 and CentOS Stream in response. These should make it out to a mirror near you shortly. /!\ Secureboot Systems - Please do a full update /!\ CentOS Linux 8 and CentOS Stream systems with secureboot enabled MUST update the kernel, grub2, and shim

SecureBoot : rolling out new shim pkgs for CentOS 7.5.1804 in CR repository - asking for testers/feedback
When we consolidated all CentOS Distro builders in a new centralized setup, covering all arches (so basically x86_64, i386, ppc64le, ppc64, aarch64 and armhfp those days), we wanted also to add redundancy where it was possible to. The interesting "SecureBoot" corner case came on the table and we had to find a different way to build the following packages: - shim (both signed and

[LLVMdev] clang .code16 with -Os producing larger code that it needs to
When experimenting with compiling GRUB2 with clang using integrated as, I found out that it generates a 16-bit code bigger than gas counterpart and result gets too big for size constraints of bootsector. This was traced mainly to 2 problems. 32-bit access to 16-bit addresses. source: movl LOCAL(kernel_sector), %ebx movl %ebx, 8(%si) clang: 7cbc: 67 66 8b 1d 5c 7c 00 addr32 mov 0x7c5c,%ebx

libvirt and UEFI/SecureBoot
Hi! I'm working currently on integration of UEFI/SecureBoot support into oVirt. And I have several questions about UEFI/SecureBoot support in libvirt. Can you please help me with them? For UEFI I add the following to the XML: <loader readonly="yes" secure="no" type="pflash"> /usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.secboot.fd </loader> <nvram

Load custom kernel with PXElinux
Hello guys, I wonder if and how can I boot my custom kernel (if at all) with pxelinux. My kernel stored in single 64bit ELF file and it has multiboot2 header. The closest module I've found was mboot.c32, but it seems not to work in my case. Thank you! -- *Best wishes,* *Alex*
