can't turn off password complexity requirements
Hello,
I'm unsing Ubuntu 14.4 Server and samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu. Everything
works great but I somehow fail to switch off the password complexity
requirements. It is not unlikely that this is because I'm very
unexperienced with Windows. I've heard that the password-settings are
always a bit tricky and I did exactly what the windows-tutorials say.
I've tried gpresult for

diconnections when using roaming-profiles with samba4
Hello,
this message is just FYI. We're using samba4 with bind9 on
ubuntu-server-edition with roaming-profiles. We had to deal with
unpredictable disconnections, that were most noticeable by the sudden
dissapearance of all desktop-icons and often also led to the loss of
edited data. The problem turned out, to be caused by
dhcp-negotiation-delays due to heavy network traffic. Perhaps

Samba building is broken when some libraries are specified to be built-in to binaries !
I try to build Samba 4.10.10 at Ubuntu 18.04 on x86_64 platform as at
armv7l archtectures from sources.
I need build replace,winbind-client,wbclientto binaries
For that I specify
*--builtin-libraries=replace,winbind-client,wbclien*t,ccan,samba-cluster-support
at configure
But in the case I get time to time, the following errors:

Samba building is broken when some libraries are specified to be built-in to binaries !
Ok.
But to the time in a short term period is there is way to make building
successfull ?
May be some temporal solution ?
One more, I need to build-in to binaries:
libreplace,libwinbind-client,libwbclien, that is
replace,winbind-client,wbclient "targets" while building all regarding
configure options specified below:
--prefix=/usr \
--enable-fhs \

Debian Wheezy member server from backports to self compile
Hello,
I'm unable to update my Samba from 4.1.17 to 4.4.2. I'm looking to
build from tar instead. From what I gather the following should be the
steps taken.
./configure --without-ad-dc -- sbindir= /usr/sbin
--sysconfdir=/etc/samba/ --/usr/share/man/
make
make install
Am I missing something else? Thanks.

Problem Compiling Samba 3.5.12
Hi all,
I am running slackware 8.0, 2.4.20 with GCC 2.95.3. I know it?s ancient J
I have previously successfully compiled 3.5.8 using the attached Makefile. I
had to add ?nodefs? to several lines in order to allow 3.5.8 to compile
previously.
However, when I use the same Makefile with 3.5.12, I end up with the
following:

AD DC and the Guest account
I'm using samba4.0.1 and it works very well in general. Unfortunately
I'm missing something like "map to guest = bad user" and I can't get
the Guest account to work. Is there any way to set up some public
shares on an AD DC ?

bind() on 127.0.0.1 in jail: bound to the outside address?
Dear folks,
It seems that doing bind() inside a jail (whose IP address is an outside
address), will result in some wierd behavior, that the actual bind is
done on the outside address.
For example, binding to 127.0.0.1:6666 inside a jail addressed 192.168.1.1,
will finally result in a bind to 192.168.1.1:6666. With this in mind,
it is possible that some formerly secure configuration fail in jail

Just spoke to Jerry, we'll be doing
a 3.0.27a on Monday to fix a regression
that broke smbfs mounts from Linux.
Sorry for the problem.

DomainDnsZone Replication Shows 200,000 Objects
During the samba domain join process I see over 200,000+ objects
that need to be replicated. This takes several hours to complete if at
all. I don't believe this to be correct. I'm currently running Samba
4.1.0 on several DC's across a couple sites. Tried to join a new DC
using Samba4.1.0 as well but it failed with an error code similar to the
one found here

hopeless - smb over bridged firewall
Dear List!
I use a shorewall 2.0.8 on a Debian sarge system. I use a DSL connection
to the Internet (ppp0 - eth1 to the modem) and a bridge to the local
lan. The bridged config i''ve made with bridge.html from the shorewall
site. The Bridge is between local net and a openvpn tap device. This
works. I ccan make tunnels, and a can make a lot of things through the
firewall. I can get a list

samba Digest, Vol 132, Issue 25
I think the 6month period comes from the "tombstoneLifetime" attribute
present under this DN. The default is 180 days.
dn: CN=Directory Service,CN=Windows NT,CN=Services,CN=Configuration, BASEDN
Can this value be reduced and wait for samba to purge the old deleted
objects?
Modifying this value has other implications as per AD docs but I wonder if
it can be changed for a simple directory
