XiphQT with Thusnelda for QuickTime X
Any progress in this issue? Or is the whole XiphQT project dead?
Any 64bit package of XiphQT for MacOSX Snow Leopard on its way? Any solution on its way, which works with Quicktime X on Snow Leopard and which doesn't urge/force you to install and use the old Quicktime 7 player? Any solution on its way, solving the /Library/Components problem on MacOSX Snow Leopard/Quicktime X?

svn repository reorg
I've moved our source repository into the top-level svn.xiph.org tree.
After using the new set up for a bit, I think having everything (but
icecast) in one tree makes more sense.
If you have a check out from the old location you can migrate your
working copy:
cd <theora-working-directory>
svn switch http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/theora
or svn switch

Any good GUI Theora encoder for Windows?
I try to test Theora in Windows , but i only find one

With ffdshow i get a worst 4 FPS encoding ...
Would be a good idea that xiph contact to creators of

Theora encoder performance
I'm evaluating some video codecs for a online conference system. I'm
encoding images (640x480)
from a webcam. I've been playing around with theora and xvid.
First of all, using theora, the decoded image looks strange:

Introduction
Hello Theora friends,
I am a developer of web graphics technologies and just recently found your Ogg/Theora streaming applications. I am interested in developing your Theora streaming applications in a Windows environment, and perhaps give the Ogg/Theora more exposure to the Windows world.
I have downloaded all of your Theora documentation and the LibTheora build package, and attempted an

New Theora and Vorbis plugins available for RealPlayer 10
Hi All,
I've just released new versions of the Helix Theora and Vorbis plugins. The
major feature of this release is adding chaining support. The plugins play
Vorbis only, Theora only, and Vorbis/Theora chained files. It also tries it's
best to play files that mix these 3 types of stream groups.
I have also fixed a few Theora bugs. The Theora plugin now properly honors
the clipping

Suggestions for Theora
Hi, I have some suggestions for Theora:1) Theora should have a feature
like adobe flash does that enables direct end user to end user peering
which decreases a server's bandwidth usage and cost. Read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Media_Flow_Protocol
Theora should go one step further and support file sharing.
2) Theora should have a plugin for the safari web browser that runs

ignoring audio in player_example
I'm interested in ignoring the audio stream in a theora encoded file.
My first attempt was to remove the test for vorbis:
/* identify the codec: try theora */
if(!theora_p && theora_decode_header(&ti,&tc,&op)>=0){
/* it is theora */
memcpy(&to,&test,sizeof(test));
theora_p=1;
}else if(!vorbis_p &&

How to seek theora streams
I need to be exposed to a way of seeking theora streams. I have repeatedly found the same question asked on a different forums but could not find an answer. I'm working on a game and started integrating video with theora, the sound works just fine with ogg/vorbis(i find it easy to seek using ov_raw_seek for audio files). Could someone please point me to some example/code of how can i seek with

theora optimizations
Hi everyone,
I wanted to throw out some data points on some of the theora
optimization efforts. There are a few different efforts going on and it
would be nice to unify all of those into something that can live in the
main branch and be kept uptodate, while making it easy for people that
want to contribute specific optimisations (we have one eager new
powerbook owner ready to give the ppc ones a

Theora and OLPC
Hi guys,
My name is Adir. I'm a Google Summer of Code student, and in addition to
that I will be working both with Xiph.org and with OLPC on optimizing
Theora's performance.
I'm in the list to get a shiny B4, but at the moment I can't do anything
since sending the laptop to my place involves some difficulties. Until I get
the laptop, I would like to hear from any of you, XO users

Gray scale video output from theora
hi all
I guess that *Theora* will convert the input color space (RGB or CMYK or
any) into YUV before it process and encode. (that means theora can operate
on several color space, but it get convert into YUV before process)
Is that true...?
I want to get a gray scale, encoded video output from the *Theora* encoder
while the input video is getting from a web cam (color input and gray scale

Demo of using Theora under Windows
I have read http://www.theora.org/theorafaq.html#42 This put quite a
burden onto the Windows-user - a burden that most Windows-users will not
be able to lift.
Has anyone made a webpage with a link to a theora-file that automatically
(or with a few clicks on Accept/OK) installs the needed codecs on a
unmodified Windows machine? (The links to theora-files on www.theora.org
does not do this, which

Hello,
My company is evaluating open source codecs for a video solution we are
starting to develop in one month, and I have some questions about Theora.
How good is the performance of Theora? Is it possible to encode it real time?
What about streaming Theora inside an OGG, OGM or Matroska container? Does it
work any good? Which is the highest

Theora 1.0 final release
Theora is a video codec with a small CPU footprint that offers easy
portability and requires no patent royalties. While the Theora
bitstream format was standardized in 2004 and our beta releases have
been used by millions, this 1.0 release is an important milestone
reflecting the maturity and stability of the Theora codebase.
A number of leading multimedia web groups already support Theora.
