sortables and onClick events firing
I have a page that I have been tasked with adding sortable support to, and
the div elements that are being dragged have a <a href> in them with an
onClick handler that opens a new window with a preview. Is there a way to
keep that onCLick from firing when a sortable is dropped?

Sortables/Draggables and overflow
If the containing element has it’s overflow property set to anything but
"visible" and I try to drag something out of the list, the draggables
are dragged underneath the “border” ( the hidden area of the container)
and thus become partly or completely invisible. Any ideas to prevent
this from happening?
I think, a future solution might be to immediately (on startDrag) detach

Draggables and Droppable performance (tips)
Hi all. I have some performance tips to share. I had been having
problems with the overall performance of the drag/drop objects. This is
due largely to the fact that my project really pushes the limits
(potentially thousands of draggables and hundreds of droppables in the
document at a time, although that is the extreme case).
Something I discovered is that the performance of dragging goes WAY

Question abour Draggables & Droppables - my code example
hi i think my example is very simple and straightforward so i''m not sure if
it meets your needs (change revert:true to revert:false from a draggable
after I drop it on a droppable so it doesn''t return to its original place.)
i did this
# 2 divs created here
<script language="javascript">
new Draggable(''drag'', {revert: false});

draggables in IE visible outside div with overflow=hidden
Hi All
I have a series of images that I''m showing in a table inside a <div>
with overflow:auto on. Each of the images is a dragable. In firefox this
works as expected (if the image list is longer than the div scroll bars
appear to scroll the div and scrolling works). However in IE the images
are shown outside the containing div and the scroll bar does nothing
I think this is

draggables bug(s)
Loving using draggables/sortables in rails... two small issues though -
First bug: creating a draggable object with a handle in rails:
<%= draggable_element "item_#{item.id}", :handle=>"myhandle" %>
this generates code like this:
<script type="text/javascript">new Draggable(''item_7'',
{handle:myhandle})</script>

Draggables Question
Hello guys,
I am creating a file browser using the libraries. I am having a problem with the draggables. When start dragging a draggable in firefox it puts a line under the dragable and does not remove it. I have the draggables on span tags with an a tag as the child and an image and some text as the child to the a tag.
Is anyone else having these problems.
Thanks

Limit to the number of draggables?
I''m wondering if there''s a max number of draggables. I have a
situation where there are something like 60-80 draggable items and
they work fine on the test server with only a handful of items, but in
production with the full load they no longer work. It''s possible
there''s something else different -- somehting with style sheets or
something, but I wanted to see

Snap to grid for Draggables
Heya,
Following an idea from Saimon (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/
2826) and
Borlum (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/2583) and possibly others,
script.aculo.us Draggables now sport a new "snap" option that works
like this:
snap:25
snap to a 25x25 grid (0,0 is at the elements 0,0 coordinate)
snap:[10,25]
same as above but with different x/y grid size
snap:function(x,y) {

Draggables notifier
I have a request for the keeper of the scripts (Thomas?)...
In the Draggables var, I think the onStart and onEnd notify events
should be named more descriptively. For instance onDragStart and
onDragEnd.
This would alleviate a possible place for namespace collisions where
other custom classes might use a similar notify schema (although I would
adamantly recommend all such classes also use

Draggable with auto-scroll
Thomas, I''m mostly writing this to you. A couple weeks ago I grabbed the
latest SVN version of dragdrop.js because I needed the auto-scroll
functionality. I just fixed something in that script that wasn''t working
correctly and thought you might want to hear about it. You may have
already caught it since I grabbed the script but here it is anyway.
In the updateDrag() function

Draggables - without moving the original element
I''m needing to implement some drag and drop in a way that leaves the
clicked element where it is, and carries a new element over to my
Droppable. Its analogous to a shopping cart: I want to drag a
representation of an item into my cart, but leave the original item
intact in the main product list. Does anyone have any tips on how to
approach this? Its seems to use

scriptaculous & sortables/draggables scrolling?
Re,
Would anyone happen to know how to make sortable/draggable scroll down
the page while moving the object if the page happens to be larger than
the screen size? These functions seem to work only within the visible
working space.
Right now I have workaround whereby I have an omnipresent DIV on the
screen to which I drop an element, then scroll down in the browser to
a certain point, and then

Script.aculo.us: Dynamic Sortable List Problems
This is my first post to this mailing list so I hope its in the right
location.I''m trying to use a list of draggables (not sortable) which I can
drag into a droppable div. The goal is to create a new item, not to move
from one list to the other.
When a new draggable is dropped, a new div is added to the droppable div and
a sortable is created. Everything is working fairly well, to

Capturing the position of a draggable element
I would like to capture the position of a draggable element after it''s
being dragged, but I am running into problem using several options, such
as "change", "revert" and "onEnd". My callback handler would only fire
when the page loads, and not when the element is dragged. How can I make
this happen?

turning revert off after being dropped
I have a container ''A'' which contains Draggables and a Droppable ''Trash''. These
Draggables are set with ''revert:true''. Now, if a Draggable from ''A'' is dropped
in the Trash, I don''t want it to revert, I want it to just disappear.
I''ve tried using draggable.destroy() but this just prevents it from being

Autoscrolling for Draggables and Sortables
Hi all,
I''ve applied an experimental patch today to the scripaculous trunk.
Setting the scroll option on Draggables or Sortables to an element
(or an element id)
will attempt to auto-scroll this element when dragging.
See test/functional/dragdrop3_test.html for a demo/usage.
It''s modelled after the behaviour in the Mac OS X finder, with
variable scrolling
speed depending
