mdbox and folders containing both messages and sub-folders
I've got Dovecot 2.2r5 (Ubuntu package version 2:2.2.0~rc5-0~auto+1
from the "testing-auto/dovecot-2.2" repository on xi.rename-it.nl)
running on a brand-new Ubuntu 12.04.2 server.
I'm trying to configure Dovecot (using the "mdbox" mailbox format) to
allow folders to contain both messages and sub-folders. However, it's
not working consistently.
I need to have

Trying to set up a Dovecot system with mdbox. But I also wanted to keep
some Maildir. So I ended up with both mdbox and Maildir side-by-side and
noticed an issue.
On this system, Dovecot's global mail location is configured with

Hi together!
We use dovecot under Debian wheezy amd64, using the repository ...

Yesterday's routine upgrade to version 2:2.2.13-1~auto+130 (or some
other upgrade that came along from Debian?) introduced a problem with
mail delivery, which I was able to track down to a crash of dovecot-lda.

Dovecot2 and mdbox problem
Hello,
I've just installed Dovecot from the http://xi.rename-it.nl/debian/
repository. But I have a problem with the mdbox Format.
When the home folder is empty Dovecot should create the folder
structure if the first mail arrived or the user logs in the first time.
But I get following error:

force-resync fails to recover all messages in mdbox
To my understanding, when using mdbox, doveadm force-resync
should be able to recover all the messages from the storage files
alone, though of course losing all metadata except the initial
delivery folder.
However, this does not seem to be the case. For me, force-resync
creates only partial indices that lose messages. The message
contents are of course still in the storage files, but dovecot

2.2.x autobuilds: Debian Stable now Wheezy, which pool for 2.2.x?
List, good evening, just installed a new Debian Stable (Wheezy). The
Debian Stable repositories now include Dovecot 2.1.7 as standard. I
haven't installed that because I wanted to try 2.2.x on this new clean
install but unsure which 'pool' to use in the xi.rename-it.nl
repository of autobuilds.

mixing Maildir and mdbox
Hello
i'm in the process to architect a new email system. i plan to use
dovecot 2.2.9 (debian's wheezy). i would like to use maildir for 2
folders on each account (spam and no-spam) and the rest of the folders
stored on mdbox. this should be opaque to my users.
the reason for this, is i want to be able to train my anti-spam tools,
but they read maildir or mbox, they don't read mdbox

mdbox, quota, ns, maildir quota?
Hello,
I pasted my config below, hoping someone can point out something obvious.
In my dovecot.log I am seeing:

I am using mysql userdb_* and passing maildir:~/maildir or
mdbox:~/mdbox for mail. When its maildir its fine, I had that

Dovecot 2.0.beta3: mdbox mailbox crashes upon login
Hi,
converted my personal mailbox from 'maildir' to 'mdbox' for testing today:
# dsync convert -u user at domain mdbox:~/mdbox
Set mail location to mdbox in 'mail.conf' and restarted server:
mail_location = mdbox:~/mdbox
Dovecot panicked instantly upon login with different clients. Tried to disable several plugins to no avail:

Quota less mailbox with mdbox
Good morning everyone,
I have a little doubt about setting a quotaless mailbox with mdbox.
Currently we have dovecot 2.0.10 with Maildir as mailbox system. We want to migrate to mdbox.
The migration is simple and easy, but there are some configuration settings we cannot set to work properly.
In our dovecot with Maildir we have the namespace INBOX with certain quota and another one without

MDBOX DSYNC error: Broken physical size in mailbox
Hi All,
I currently have a small Dovecot server (Server A) and I've installed a
second dovecot mailbox server (server B) and am trying to sync mailboxes
from Server A to Server B.
Both servers sit behind two dovecot directors on separate hosts and have
identical config files (doveconf -n output below). Mailboxes on Server A
are on an NFS mount.
Server A has been working fine with no

[HowTo] Installing Samba and sssd on Debian Wheezy (with manual backport)
Hi everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I wanted to install Samba and sssd on a Debian
Wheezy server. The Samba version from the wheezy-backports repo looks
and feels fairly well packaged by now and is updated to the upstream
version, so in my opinion that's the way to go. As regards sssd, I
wanted a version supporting the AD backend (the one in the Wheezy
repos doesn't), so I backported it
