Internal DNS listen address
Is it possible to have Samba4 internal DNS listen only on specific IP address(es)? We have 2 IP addresses on our DC and don't want the Samba4 DNS listening on one of them as it is to be used for an independent BIND DNS service. For those who may be wondering why, it's because Samba4's DNS doesn't do everything we want or need and using BIND_DLZ really isn't any better for

Samba AD with internal DNS on IPv4/IPv6 but only announcing IPv4 address
Hello, I use Samba AD in Version 4.8.3 and would like to run it on IPv4 und IPv6 in order to be able to have Samba acting as IPv6 DNS Server. However since I have problem with sysprep domain join as soon as Samba advertises its own Domain Controller Hostname as IPv4 and IPv6 address, I would like to tell Samba to run on both protocols but only resolve to an IPv4 address. So in short: When I

after reboot listen(*, 995) failed: Address already in use/listen(*, 993) failed: Address already in use
This is still happening after a reboot, Fedora 28. Restarting dovecot fixes the problem. Does anyone know if it could be related to this bug report? *https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=103401#c130 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=103401#c130> * and suggested work around to add ports to /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_reserved_ports? Cleaning up old DC DNS records
Hi, I demoted a running domain controller by running the samba-tool demote command on the running system to be demoted and there's still some DNS entries for the old one kicking around. It's still listed under _msdcs and also _kerberos._udp and _ldap._tcp. Should I manually remove them? If so, is there a list of spots to look in for DNS entries of old DCs? Also, does the fact that

vnc port/listen address ignored when setting machine?
Hi, First of all, I hope it's not a big problem - I'm running on Debian, not Redhat. To my problem: I'm starting to learn virtualization, libvirt, and decided to create some test machine. I did it with: virt-install --name debian-test \ --os-type=linux \ --os-variant=debianwheezy \ --cdrom /media/media/software/iso/debian-testing-amd64-netinst-2014-01-16.iso \

Want To Listen To Chad Fowler''s Keynote Presentation?
Chad Fowler gave two keynote presentations at CUSEC 2006 in January. The second one he gave was entitled "Rails is Boring and Ruby is a Toy" and is available through the SOENlive podcast. For those handful who might of not heard of Chad Fowler yet, he is the author of "Rails Recipes" which is presently available as a beta book. (Great book, you should get it out)

Samba internal DNS limit recursive queries to certain ip address ranges
Hello, I noticed that samba internal dns allows recursive queries from everywhere. I wonder if it is possible to limit recursive queries to certain IPv4 and IPv6 network ranges? Cheers, Thomas

Internal DNS not coming up in 4.18.0
Hi, While upgrading Samba-AD fromm 4.15.9 to version 4.18, I ran into a peculiar problem. AD Component is up, but DNS is just not coming up. kinit is reporting KDC not found problem. All these years I have been compiling samba from source and for nearly 7 years, it was working like a charm. But this upgrade activity, we ran into rough weather. We do not upgrade the existing servers where as,

Migrating samba4 dc from an instance with static/external dns to a fresh install with dynamic/internal dns
Dear list, I want to migrate our existing samba4 dc with a static/external dns backend, to a new install with internal dynamic dns backend. Given: DC1 - existing samba4 dc with static/external dns running quite old build (to be updated to version 4.3 before the migration starts) DC2 - new samba4 dc with internal dynamic dns (running 4.3 version) What is the best way to do such migration?

Can I create a new ForestZone using samba-tool? I asking this question as RSAT is not connecting to DNS server. Thanks & Regards, Anantha Raghava H A This e-mail communication and any
