Searching an Scsi Controller for CentOS 5
Hello, does CentOs 5 supports an Adaptec AHA-2940W/2940UW scsi controller (pci)? Is this controller maybe supported by the aic7xxx driver? I want to install CentOS 5 on my desktop pc but the currently installed pci scsi controller for my scanners (drivers: 2x tmscsim, 1x advansys) are not supported by CentOS. So I am searching for something else. Thanks in advanced. regards Olaf

Execution from ip-up.local
Hi, I'm using Firestarter as my firewall. If I restart the network or my DSL line goes down, I have to manually restart Firestarter. I have sh /etc/firestarter/firestarter.sh stop and then sh /etc/firestarter/firestarter.sh start in my ip-up.local file. I confirmed ip-up.local us being executed by placing an entry in the logs, but it appears firestarter is not or at least not correctly.

CentOSPlus kernel - Request for input
OK, I am building the new CentOSPlus kernel for i386/x86_64. It is based on the 2.6.9-42.EL kernel that will be part of CentOS-4.4. Currently it has all the features of the older plus kernels and all the items turned on by the upstream provider in their main kernel ... except that XFS is being removed from this kernel (and added by a standalone module that has newer sgi code for xfs). I am not

What is wrong with yum?
Hello, in my CentOS-Base.repo file there is a line baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/updates/$basearch and yum update said 'nothing to do'. Then I change this line to baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.1/updates/i386 and yum updates firefox, squid, sos and so on. That happens on two of my computers, reproducible. Does yum sometimes forget it's release

Finding module name for SCSI host adapter for a given SCSI target
Given a path to a SCSI device, e.g. "DEV=/dev/st1", I need to find the name of the kernel module for the SCSI host adapter that controls that target. The objective is to be able to unload and reload the kernel module when the drive gets into a state that requires a SCSI bus reset for recovery. The best I've been able to come up with so far is: SCSIMOD=$(cat

I have a question regarding the virtual scsi adapter.
I have a very old system which has a self compiled kernel. It' supports sata and megaraid but not LSI SCSI or BUSLOGIC scsi. I am not sure what SCSI adapter is being used on CentOS KVM host and there for what kernel options to enable in the new compiled kernel. I have tried to add LSI logic and it seems like still not recognizing the SCSI device. I have another kernel that do work but it was

High system in %system load .
Hello Got strange problem with high system "%system load" and very slow user level programs (apache+php+mysql) behavior gstat shows 1.5-4% hard disk busy load but system shows about 20-30% load while user load is max 5%. vmstat shows from 2 to 35 process in "b" state. Now use 7.0-RELEASE-p5 , but the same problem was with 7.0-RELEASE. And have no idea what to do with this.
