BoF - Gluster for VM store use case
During Gluster Summit, we discussed gluster volumes as storage for VM
images - feedback on the usecase and upcoming features that may benefit
this usecase.
Some of the points discussed
* Need to ensure there are no issues when expanding a gluster volume when
sharding is turned on.
* Throttling feature for self-heal, rebalance process could be useful for
this usecase
* Erasure coded volumes with

qemu-kvm-ev: usb: out-of-bounds r/w(CVE-2020-14364)
Hello
I saw that qemu-kvm-rhev has fixed the issue, but CentOS community hasn't updated the repaired version of qemu-kvm-ev;
will it be fixed in the future?
thanks

[PATCH 1/3] Fix RHEV cleanup on unclean shutdown
Cleanup was not happening properly if a migration to RHEV was killed
prematurely with a Ctrl-C. Firstly, the SIGINT and SIGQUIT handlers were not
being registered early enough in virt-v2v.pl. Secondly, if Ctrl-C killed the
guestfs qemu process first it would deliver a SIGPIPE to v2v, which caused an
unclean shutdown without cleanup.
Fixes RHBZ#596015

qemu-kvm-rhev
I recently ran into some problems using certain oVirt (3.3) features
on CentOS 6.4 hosts.
The solution was to use the qemu-kvm-rhev version from the EL6 RHEV repository:
http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/6Server/en/RHEV/SRPMS/qemu-kvm-rhev-0.12.1.2-2.355.el6_4.9.src.rpm
It seems that this tree is not carried/built by CentOS.
Are there any plans on the CentOS for carrying these

Missing "block-stream" command in qemu-kvm
Hi all,
I’m experiencing an interesting issue where I’m attempting to consolidate my snapshots’ backing images on my qemu-kvm install by way of the virsh blockpull and/or virsh blockcommit commands and receiving the error that my system can not locate the “block-stream” command. I can’t seem to find much related to this issue by way of my Google research outside of some Bugzilla posts, which

[PATCH] v2v: docs: qemu-kvm-rhev only applies to RHEL 7 (RHBZ#1651977).
The previous support documentation said that for UEFI guests, when
using RHEL ≥ 7.3 host, you must use qemu-kvm-rhev. For RHEL 8 this is
inaccurate since qemu-kvm-rhev no longer exists.
Since 7.3 is now an obsolete version of RHEL 7 we can change the text
to refer to RHEL 7 only:
On RHEL 7, only qemu-kvm-rhev (not qemu-kvm) is supported.
Thanks: Ming Xie.

gigE -> 100Mb problems
I've got a pair of identical CentOS 6.7 servers, with SuperMicro X8DTE-F
motherboards, these have 2 each Intel 82574L ethernet ports. The eth0
ports are plugged in with 10' runs of brand new cat 5e cable to a Cisco
Nexxus 9000 switch (provided by the data center).
These servers keep coming up at 100baseT rather than gigE. I've swapped
ports and cables with a different server,

KVM HA
Hi,
I have two KVM hosts (CentOS 7) and would like them to operate as High Availability servers,
automatically migrating guests when one of the hosts goes down.
My question is: Is this even possible? All the documentation for HA that I've found appears to not
do this. Am I missing something?
My configuration so fare includes:
* SAN Storage Volumes for raw device mappings for guest vms

qemu-kvm rebuild in Centos for oVirt in SIG Virt
Hi guys,
As we discussed in the last CentOS SIG Virt meeting below the steps that
we do to rebuild the qemu-kvm from http://vault.centos.org to enable the
rhev-features like live snapshot for CentOS.
1. Download the last qemu-kvm from
http://vault.centos.org/${version}/updates/Source/SPackages/
2. mock -D "${build_version}" -r epel-6-x86_64 --with=rhev-features
--rebuild

Does anyone have a recommendation for a 48 port LAN switch for a new *

Latest C6 kernel (2.6.32-696.30.1.el6) Panic on AMD processor on C7 KVM Host
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1586278
The above bug addresses? a kernel panic if you have a CentOS 7
KVM/QEMU/Libvirt host server running CentOS 6 VMs on an AMD processor
machine.
If you get this kernel panic:
PANIC: early exception 0d rip 10:ffffffff810462b6 error 0 cr2 0
The fix is to change the CentOS 6 VM CPU Type from Opteron_G5 (the default) to Opteron_G3.

kvm: C8 as guest on C6 host / huge delay while booting
Since C8.1 kvm guests have a huge delay while booting on a kvm host
based on C6. This delay was not present with C8.0. The "pause" happend
direct after the grub step. The VNC session shows only a "_" character.
Any ideas what changes?
