strange before_filter error. is this a bug i have found?
... before_filter :find_regression_test def find_regression_test @regression_test=RegressionTest.find(8) end .... The above seems like perfectly normal before_filter syntax, but it gives this error. Aldo is no application trace, just a framework trace: Any idea what is wrong? NoMethodError in Regression testsController#modify_regression_test private method `equal?''

ridding away with do_request
I''m heading out of town, but had a quick thought I wanted to share. Rather then using ambiguous named request helpers in controller specs like "do_request", I''ve been using more readable helpers like "post_create". For example... describe ProjectController do def post_create post :create, ... end before do end it "creates a new

respond_to causes DoubleRenderError?
I have a custom authentication plugin that redirects users to a login site if they aren''t already authenticated and their session hasn''t timed out. I had things working fine with straight http requests, but wanted to add support for ajax requests. I thought this would be a simple matter of replacing all of my "redirect_to <blah> and return false" calls with

Ahoy, I tried to install hieraki and it was a big mess. 1) upload_progress module needed to be installed 2) no test/development server configured in the config file so i had to add those 3) no log directory, had to add that 4) had to install 2 gems (ok fine) 5) once the server started, go to homepage and " NameError in Wiki/pageController#index uninitialized constant Node RAILS_ROOT:

Order of the get call and xxx.should
Just out of curiosity, why is that the following .should calls have to differ to work? The first is a normal check on the if the user is redirected if not logged in ========= it "should redirect the user to the login screen" do do_get response.should redirect_to(new_session_url) end The second is checking to ensure that the proper user validation method is called ========= it

Module loading
I''ve looked high and low for the answer to this and can''t seem to find anything that helps. I have an admin section (much like Typo) where all controllers are based on the Admin::BaseController. My directory structure is [RAILS] -app --controllers ---admin ----base_controller.rb ----products_controller.rb Products controller is: class Admin::ProductsController <

Extending rails with plugins
I''ve been looking at bottling some functionality up into a plugin, but I''m having some problems including it. Autotest and subclasses / namespaces
I am writing a controller admin/cities_controller.rb it inherits from AdminController, so it''s defined like class Admin::CitiesController > AdminController Whenever I save the controller file, autotest freaks out: uninitialized constant Admin::AdminController (NameError) I''m pretty used to just hitting CTRL-C to get autotest to re-load all the files, or flicking to

cached-model broken with Rails 1.1
It looks like cached-model is broken again under rails 1.1. Can anyone confirm? Note that the exception below indicates it''s trying to treat CachedModel as the class name of the model, rather than using the proper class name (which is Entry in this case, and the table called entries). This is a model using Single Table Inheritance and acts_as_tree, and worked just fine under 1.0 and

First module gives "unknown action"
Hi, I''m using "Agile Web Dev. w/Rails", which is great but has a minimum on grouping controllers into modules. I''ve successfully generated a module scaffold, so I have: app/controllers/admin_controller.rb app/controllers/admin/things_controller.rb (And the rest of the scaffold output, which seems normal.) However, browsing to http://localhost:3000/admin/things/

HTTP Auth 401 Even on Valid Login
I can''t understand why authenticate_or_request_with_http_basic keeps failing even though I am entering the correct info. If I try to access /admin/items/new, I enter the correct info but I keep getting prompted. The strange part is that when I cancel out, I get "HTTP Basic: Acce". Here''s the controllers: class Admin::BaseController < ApplicationController

Want to Move RestfulAuthentication's UsersController to Admin::UsersController
I''m trying to move RestfulAuthentication''s UsersController to an Admin module--Admin::UsersController--as I''m also adding roles and permissions for an app I''m building. I would like this all to be within a single user interface with a standard security level required for all these pieces as defined in Admin::BaseController. So far, I''ve been able to
