Seeking Code for Chaid or Similar
Quick disclaimer: I'm new to the list and I'm not sure if I'm sending this
to the correct forum. If there is a better place for questions like these,
please let me know!
Dear R List,
I'm interested in modifying a regression tree algorithm to use the
difference between a control and a dosed sample as its dependent variable.
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find

Form Dates and MultiparameterAssignmentErrors
I''m using the date_select form helper for a date_of_birth field on an
ActiveRecord object. When I try to save a date earlier than 1 Jan 1970,
ActionController punts with
ActiveRecord::MultiparameterAssignmentErrors. The message it gives is
"1 error(s) on assignment of multiparameter attributes". I was able to
catch the exception and look at it, and it is certainly complaining

AID / Tree Analysis in R
Dear Colleagues,
I've been looking for a function that can perform a tree analysis, similar to CHAID or QUEST. The key point is that in this case the variables are not binary but nominal (10 different values), so "tree" (from the tree package) won't work. Does anybody know help?
Sincerely,

Trees
Hi.,
I would like to conduct a CHAID tree analysis - Chi-square Automatic
Interaction Detector.
>From what I can make out from MASS, tree, rpart, and a quick search it
isn't available
as a package.
Is that correct or have I missed it? Has anyone an available
implementation of it?
Thanks

(Heuristic?) salient feature selection
Dear all,
I am new to R and statistics really in general. I am hoping that someone
will be able to point me in the right direction and/or suggest a
technique/package/reference that will help me with the following.
I have:
Some input variables (integers, real)
Some output variables (integers, real)
and I want to find out which between the two correlate best - i.e. the
salient features. I

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
I'm interested in trying out the new OpenShot beta (2.06) on CentOS 7.
Openshot requires Python3.
so I look at available packages where I find a bunchof python3 packages
as well as python34 packages.
I'm assuming that python34 is version 3.4 of python, while python3 is some
other 3.x version.
Can anyone here explain to me what are the differences, any compatibility
across these

Filling Lists or Arrays of variable dimensions
Following problem:
Say you have a bunch of parameters and want to produce results for all combinations of those:
height<-c("high","low")
width<-c("slim","wide")
then what i used to do was something like this:
l<-list()
for(h in height){
l[[h]]<-list()
for(w in width){
l[[h]][[w]] <- doSomething()
}
}
Now those parameters aren't

Kmeans cluster analysis
Hello,
I have a data-set containing 22 variables, after appropriate transformations etc I ran a kmeans cluster analysis for 4 clusters , I ran it 20 times to find a result with the lowest within sum of squares.
My question is how best do I go about finding out what the characteristics are of each cluster?
Is one cluster dominated by a particular set of variables or by a particular

Recursive partitioning algorithms in R vs. alia
Dear R-helpers,
I had a conversation with a guy working in a "business intelligence"

methods to rank customers according to certain criteria.
They use both SAS EM and Salford Systems' CART. I have used package R

Ordinal categorical data with GLM
Hello All:
I am trying to replicate the results of an example found in Alan
Agresti's "Categorical Data Analysis" on pages 267-269. The example is
one of a 2 x 2 cross-classification table of ordinal counts: job
satisfaction and income.
I am able to get Agresti's results for the independence model (G^2 =
12.03 with df = 9) assuming as he does that the data is nominal, but
