Files missing (not hidden)
Hi there, I have a samba install on centos 5 with the latest version of samba (samba-3.0.33-3.28). There were two files that just disappeared. The users description is as below: I had worked on them ? both were excel files that linked to each other. I saved it as a different name than the original I worked from (which I found to be very ?buggy?) ? the originals are still in their respective

Cannot access Samba 4 via old Windows CE
I have some old boxes called Auditron that use an ancient version of Windows CE. These clients worked fine on Fedora 19 with Samba 3. I have now upgraded to Fedora 22 and Samba 4, and now these old boxes no longer connect. This is the config file I am using that was working fine: # Global parameters [global] netbios name = MEDIA server string = %v Samba on %h

Admin UID changed with upgrade to 4.8.2
Imo, this is a left over of an old bug, just remove the file Registry.po imo, i'll bet its never used. The computer looks for Registry.pol not Registry.po. > -rwxrwx--- 1 root users 958 2014-09-13 04:01 Registry.po* > -rwxrwx--- 1 3000000 users 958 2014-09-13 04:01 Registry.pol* Look at the date 2014, and i do remember something about this. But... What does getfacl say about

Hello, If I try to set acl under windows, something very strange appears. For instance, if I set something for the user samuel I get this with the command getfacl : default:_*group*_:samuel.ruet:r-x And if I set something for the group sa-si I get this : default:_*use*_r:sa-si:r-x Under windows all seems good... I recently change idmap config... ( add rid backend ) Here is my smb.conf :

Samba 3.6 problems with idmap rid
Hi! I am using mainly Samba 3.5 on CentOS, and I was very pleased with idmap_rid backend for SID-to-RID mappings. But on Solaris 10, I can only use 3.6 because OpenCSW ships only 3.6. Problem is, things are changed and are not working as expected... Here is my config on RHEL Samba 3.5: [global] workgroup = WINDOMAIN realm = WINDOMAIN.LOCAL server string = localserver

Mac OS X and ACL's
Hi all, I have a server that has ACL's enabled on it and the groups are set properly from the domain that are applied on top of it for the shared folders. I am running with Mac OS X 10.10.5 on the client side and am having nothing but issues with getting them to respect the ACL's set on the files. The Server Setup is as follows: Domain Server: Debian 7.9 with Samba 4.3.4 Member

Samba4, idmap.ldb & ID_TYPE_BOTH
OK, there is a discussion over on samba-technical about nss_winbind and the question about Administrator being mapped to 0 was raised. Now I have always thought that it should, but in fairness, I decided to see what happens when it isn't, so I removed Administrator from idmap.ldb and restarted samba. Before restarting samba, I checked a few things, on the DC, getfacl returned this for

Backup Domain not working
I recently set up a backup domain controller using Samba 3.0.23. I have a Samba PDC already running, and all is working fine, but once I added the BDC, now when people log in to their windows account, their home directory is now being mapped to their home on the BDC (which is empty) instead of the PDC. Conf files from each below: PDC Samba Conf: [global] unix charset = LOCALE

Samba shares with Windows ACL's
I'm having trouble with my new fileserver, I can't make the shares viewable by windows clients. I had the same problems with the first file server I built and cannot remember what I did to "fix" it. I have gone through the page "Setting up a share using Windows ACL's" on the Samba Wiki ( https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs) but

There have been a few post on the net regarding this but all the solution listed do not work for me. Here is my smb.conf --------------------------------------------------- [global]
