Hung connection over Juniper Tunnel
Hello list!
So I recently reconfigured our office network to allow a permanent VPN
connection to our data center. This consists of a Juniper SSG-520
connected via a tunnel to a Juniper Netscreen-25 over a 100M leased
NTT VPN (yes I'm tunneling over the VPN as it's the only way to make
it routable.) Here is where OpenSSH come in. When I try and ssh to a
machine on the other end

routing in tunnel mode
Hello,
Looking here
http://www.ipsec-howto.org/x299.html
I''ve set up a vpn in transport mode with two linux boxes. I''m now trying to
set it up in tunnel mode. After using the example keys, trying to ping, it
doesn''t work because the route network isn''t routable.
This mention is in the howto
"If you tunnel is not working, please check your routing.

ssh tunnelling with putty
Could someone provide some help tunnelling a connection through a ssh pipe
using putty on a windows 98 client to a samba server?
I think I am doing it correctly but can't map a samba share and can't figure
out how to debug it
I can't find any log files or any other way to determine how the connection
attempt is proceeding
Any tips?

Centos 8 on Macbook
Folks
I am trying to install Centos 8.1 on a MacBook Pro. I have a
bootable USB stick with centos-8.1-boot (which I think is the
equivalent of a netinstall), and it boots. However, when I select
the storage option, and choose to make more space on the SSD, go
through the confirming dialogs, the installer complains that it was
unable to save the information to the disk. A similar attempt

6.7 netinstall fails at insert cd to continue

This it is a very easy process to create an installable usb key:
1. Download the iso file from a mirror.
2. Check the sha256sum with this from the command line:
sha256sum <isoname>
3. verify the output is the same as this list (for CentOS-6.7):

Quota system over NFS
I've been trying to implement the quota system for a Linux cluster. I'm
trying it out on a mini-cluster of 4 CentOS 6.3 VMs. I've named them:
lion-login
lion-sn1
lion-cn01
lion-cn02
All nodes are on the virtual subnet 192.168.56.0/24. lion-sn1 (storage
node 1) is the NFS server and the other three nodes are the NFS clients.
/etc/exports on lion-sn1:
/home 192.168.56.0/24(rw)

IPSec Racoon and Port Forwarding
Hello,
I have given myself quite the headache trying to make this VPN work correctly. I am attempting to use racoon to establish keys and construct an encrypted tunnel between one host(A.A.A.A) with a routable IP address and another that has a private address(10.0.0.2) with a cable modem(B.B.B.B) forwarding all ports to the private address(10.0.0.2). Here is a quick topographic dipiction of the

Tunneling public ips, proxy arp, tinc config
Hi,
I have a question. I have a routeable /24 netblock including a server at a
colocation and I would like to use tincd to tunnel part of that netblock to
an internal network on another location being connected to the internet via
gateway with DSL link and a single static IP address, so I can use public
routable IP addresses on the local network.
I have tincd 1.0 pre7 installed on both the local

DHCP with ipv6 tunnel
I'm completely confused here and I'm hoping someone here has a setup
they're willing to share, or help me configure things on my end.
My connectivity is through Comcast, who unfortunately, does not offer ipv6
in my area. My connection goes like this:
Comcast -> Motorola Surfboard Cable Router -> CentOS 6.5 server
The CentOS server is multi-homed and manages the internal

Help with tinc over http-tunnel
Hi,
I have successfully setup a tinc vpn between two machines, which is
great, and now need do the same to a machine behind a firewall (I do not
control the firewall, alas). The firewall will allow port 80 out (via
an http proxy), so I wish to use GNU http-tunnel (or similar) to tunnel
through the firewall.
I have also successfully used http-tunnel to tunnel a simple ppp over
ssh connection.

IPSec tunnel and routing
Hello.
I wonder how just correct couple of spdadd commands like
spdadd 192.168.1.0/24 192.168.2.0/24 any -P out ipsec esp/tunnel/10.1.0.1-10.2.0.1/require;
spdadd 192.168.2.0/24 192.168.1.0/24 any -P in ipsec esp/tunnel/10.2.0.1-10.1.0.1/require;
makes _routing_ of packets from 192.168.1/24 into 192.168.2/24.
If I understand correctly how it works on *BSD, these commands with

6to4 suddenly stopped working to 2001: addresses
I've got three installations of FreeBSD using 6to4 in three different
physical locations, attached to three different ISPs. Sometime in the last
few days all of them have stopped talking to IPv6 addesse which are
not also 6to4. I can still talk to 2002: addresses, but not to 2001:
addresses.
This all worked fine a few days ago, and nothing has changed in the config of
any of these machines. I

Waiting until tunnel (ssh -w) is set up before running command
When using VPN tunnelling (-w option), is there a way to know when the
tunnel is actually up? I want to use this in a script that
automatically sets up the tunnel by running ssh -w then running ifup
[1].
The -f option doesn't help because it returns after connecting to the
server but before the tunnel is up. Sleeping for a few seconds does
work, but it just feels too hacky.

xen guest system - install source
I am installing my first xen system (CentOS 5.3). The host system seems
to be ok.
I am following this tutorial:
http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-xen-on-centos-5.2-i386-p2
Now I try to use virt-install to install the first guest system, but I
cannot find a working install source.
I have tried at least these:

Help? Router/Bandwidth throttle needed.
I hope this list is still active. I''m an experienced Linux Sysadmin, but I
haven''t done much in the way of routing. Due to a decision made by my
higherups, I need to jam a computer between my ISP and my LAN to do
bandwidth throttling.
My current setup:
1 Crappy Cable Modem (7Mb/768Kb connection) with a static IP.
4 servers (all have static, routable IPs) - One of which is
