Obtaining Midas and splice index values in onechannelGUI
Hello, I've meanwhile got onechannelGUI running (my OS is windows). I'm trying to use it for the analysis of human exon arrays. I was able to load cel files and run them through affymetrix power tools, to obtain normalized affy data. My next step was trying to find differentially spliced exons. The menu offers to calculate either Midas or splice index scores. However, when I try to use

New samba connection will not work
I'm fairly new to samba but I've spent too long on this - can anyone help? This system was previously working on another domain. Now I have tried to register it on the production domain (it has been removed from the test domain and I've deleted the secrets file and then added it to the live (OASIS) domain and I get C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32>net use * \\confasr1\midas System error 53 has

I am re-posting this with a subject line in line (hopefully) with your guidelines. Apologise if this causes any confusion. I'm fairly new to samba but I've spent too long on this - can anyone help? This system was previously working on another domain. Now I have tried to register it on the production domain (it has been removed from the test domain and I've deleted the secrets file

Enterprise Database Tier (XA transactions, COBRA and MIDAS)
I am developing a large scale financial application which is going to be very intensive write-wise, and use a lot of transactions. I can see how the the web and application servers can be scaled and load balanced quite easily, but not the database tier. The setups I have looked at so far seem to deal with coping with a lot of reads, and minimal writes - this maybe because they are largely

Local delivery via deliver fails for 1 user in alias
Hi all, I'm a bit baffled. I have an OS X server 10.6.8 and everything was working fine. Now however I seem to be having some issues and I'm unable to find log entries to help point me to the error. I have an alias, sales at cirrusav.com, which forwards mail to myself and two others. This works fine most of the time, but on occasion messages are not delivered to one user. It is possible

Full_Name: Vaidotas Zemlys Version: 2.1.1 OS: Ubuntu 05.10 Submission from: (NULL) (213.197.173.50) Hi, This is really a feature request, not a bug. I wrote the mail to R-devel, but nobody answered it. I use Gnome on my computer and sometimes I use its default text editor gedit. It uses gtksourceview library for syntax highlighting. I decided that it would be nice if gedit supported R

Computation time differences between Linux and Windows
Hi, Today I came accros a very interesting thing. I was asked how much time it takes for R to calculate the product of two large matrices. So I generated two 2000x2000 matrices of random normal numbers and measured the time with function system.time m1 <- matrix(rnorm(2000*2000),2000) m2 <- matrix(rnorm(2000*2000),2000) system.time(m3 <- m1%*%m2) and it produced 46.47 0.36 47.68

calculating recursive sequences
Hi, I was trying to repeat the estimation of threshold GARCH models from the book "Analysis of Financial Time Series" by Ruey S. Tsay, and I was succesfull, but I had to use "for" loop, which is quite slow. The loop is necessary, since you need to calculate recursive sequence. Is there a faster way to do this in R, without using loops? The model is such: r_t = \mu + \alpha_2

Problems with Sweave and pdf.options(encoding="ISOLatin7") (PR#13234)
Hi, Sweave for some reason does not respect encoding setting in pdf.options. Everything is OK with ps.options. Thus when using non-default encoding for graphs, resulting graphics eps file is correct, but pdf file is not. Workaround is very simple, just use latex->dvips->ps2pdf chain to get the intended pdf document. I tried to find the explanation for this, but I did not find anything. If

I feel a little bad about matching Taylor with the Thanatostar. /Just a little./ I've stopped updating my Instagram, because none of you follow it. Also I'm thinking of pausing Twitter too. I imagine you all KE <http://cadsplayforda.tk/lists/lt.php?id=YUgFAQJRVE9RUVEdU1wDX1cNVg> anyway, but that's not doing me any immediate good--and you probably don't see or believe

User error in calling predict/model.frame
I want to predict values from an existing lm (linear model, e.g. lm.obj) result in R using a new set of predictor variables (e.g. newdata). However, it seems that because my linear models was made by calling scale() on the target predictor that predict exits with an error, "Error in scale(xxA, center = 9.7846094491829, scale = 0.959413568556403) : object 'xxA' not found".
