files on shared ntfs-disk in linux-pc are not accessible
Hi,
I have spent the entire evening, trying to access a ntfs-drive in my linux-box
from my WinXP-Notebook but I just can't get it to work (and it's 3:50 a.m.
now!)
I have put a 160GB harddisk into a linux box (LFS 5.1.1, console only) and
mounted it:
/dev/hdd1 /mnt/toffi ntfs ro,uid=christoph,gid=christoph,umask=022 0 0
To check wether the data on the disk is ok, I then put in a

NTFS ACLs
Hi..
I'm having trouble getting to grips with NTFS ACLs in samba
(2.2.3a-12.3 pkg for Debian)
I've set up a samba server with the usual homes and share drives &c.
Windows 98 clients are no problem. But the win 2k boxes are a different
kettle of things. I was puzzled as to why one user would get another
user's home share mounted on H: when i could find nothing in the 2k

Windows permissions on NTFS share mounted with NTFS-3g on linux
Hi all,
I've been trying to get this to work for a while now but no luck...
I have a NTFS formatted drive mounted using ntfs-3g on a linux computer.
This drive is then shared using Samba. When I connect to the share from a
windows machine and create new files their permissions are set for three
users: Everyone, Root (unix user) and Root (unix group) but the actual user

need to check and read ntfs acls from nfs stack, looking for libraries to do so
I need to add the ability to check permissions against ntfs acls that are
set and maintained by a samba server, in our nfs stack. The nfs stack
currently doesn't have anything to deal with this. I was wondering if
Samba's code for creating and checking permissions against the security
descriptor and related structs is something provided by third party
libraries, or did Samba implement that

[GIT PULL] NTFS features and fixes
Hi all,
- There is a worth thing to note about these changes, which is the handling
of
$ATTRIBUTE_LIST attribute, that is rare attribute. When there are a lot
of attributes
and there is no more space in the MFT record, all those attributes that
can be made
non-resident are moved out the MFT, so this is where the $ATTRIBUTE_LIST
comes in.

How to remove a Trash folder from a mounted ntfs partition
CentOS-5.7 using fuse-ntfs-3g
I have a HDD from a laptop that is being returned for
repair replacement. I wish to remove certain files before
sending the laptop back with the HDD.
I have mouunted the HDD on my desktop as an ntfs
filesystem using an external SATA / USB adapter. As root
I then used the gnome desktop to move the desired files to
trash. Now I wish to delete the contents of the

Samba NTFS permissions
Hi, I am new to this list.
Does samba 3 support ntfs permissions or a way to map them?
Creating a share for a user is easy but can you set different file
permissions in that share with separate ntfs permissions to give different
users permission to different areas of the share? This is on an Active
Directory network. Thank you.

Flags for both subfolder and file NTFS permissions
Hello folks,
I'm trying to set NTFS permissions from command line using smbcacls , does anyone here know the flags for both subfolder and file permission inheritance ? I'm trying the following way without success, it sets inheritance for subfolder or file but never the both.
smbcacls -S "ACL:user:ALLOWED/ givenflags /FULL" //127.0.0.1/share /directory

Cannot open file in NTFS filesystem on Ubuntu Hardy Heron
I am trying to run an old version of Family Tree Maker for Windows. I got it working on Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, but when I switched to Hard Heron it stopped working.
Specifically when I use the file open dialog to select the database to open I am able to navigate through the Unix directory tree down to the file, but when I request the application to open the selected file I get an error message

[PATCH] NTFS: fix incorrect file->offset usage in ntfs_readdir
file->offset is used to store position in index root between
ntfs_readdir calls.
Previously, pointer to buffer was stored in this field. However this
buffer is reallocated and read each ntfs_readdir call so the pointer may
become incorrect.
Now offset in index root rather than pointer is stored in this field.

Re: ntfs-3g data deduplication support in guestmount for creating file based back-ups on visualization platform
Hi Richard,
Is there a way I can access the /var/log/syslog of an running guestmount
instance to get the grep ntfs-3g /var/log/syslog information?
I managed to get the plug-in to load in my questmount instances by using:
echo '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ntfs-3g/ntfs-plugin-*.so' >
/usr/lib/guestfs/supermin.d/zz-ntfs-plugins
rm -rf /var/tmp/.guestfs-*
Kind regards,
