[PATCH] Btrfs: add tests for btrfs_get_extent V2
I''m going to be removing hole extents in the near future so I wanted to make a sanity test for btrfs_get_extent to make sure I don''t break anything in the meantime. This patch just puts btrfs_get_extent through its paces by giving it a completely unreasonable mapping to look at and make sure it is giving us back maps that make sense. [RFC] [PATCH] Btrfs: rework can_nocow_odirect
I need everybody to go over this with a fine toothed comb since it is a pretty big change. I think it is right and it seems to come out right, but if it''s not it will mean we screw up O_DIRECT on snapshotted files with preallocated extents, so please, make sure it is correct :). --- Subject: [PATCH] Btrfs: rework can_nocow_odirect We are always doing the file extent lookup in here

[PATCH 7/8] Make fallocate(2) more ENOSPC friendly
fallocate(2) may allocate large number of file extents, so it''s not good to do it in a single transaction. This patch make fallocate(2) start a new transaction for each file extents it allocates. [PATCH] Btrfs: incompatible format change to remove hole extents V4
Btrfs has always had these filler extent data items for holes in inodes. This has made somethings very easy, like logging hole punches and sending hole punches. However for large holey files these extent data items are pure overhead. So add an incompatible feature to no longer add hole extents to reduce the amount of metadata used by these sort of files. This has a few changes for logging and

[LLVMdev] Problem with llc and ppc64
Hi, I'm having problem with generating ppc64-assembler code. First I create ppc64-assembler with llc: llc -march=ppc64 gzip.bc -f -o gzip.s Then I try to compile this with a cross-compiler on x86_64-linux to ppc64-linux: .../crosstools/gcc-4.2.4-glibc-2.3.6/powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu-gcc gzip.s But the compiler gives me gzip.4.s: Assembler messages:

[PATCH 3/4] update nodatacow code

[PATCH] Btrfs: do not hold the write_lock on the extent tree while logging V2
Dave Sterba pointed out a sleeping while atomic bug while doing fsync. This is because I''m an idiot and didn''t realize that rwlock''s were spin locks, so we''ve been holding this thing while doing allocations and such which is not good. This patch fixes this by dropping the write lock before we do anything heavy and re-acquire it when it is done. We also need

[PATCH] Btrfs: allow compressed extents to be merged during defragment
The rule originally comes from nocow writing, but snapshot-aware defrag is a different case, the extent has been writen and we''re not going to change the extent but add a reference on the data. So we''re able to allow such compressed extents to be merged into one bigger extent if they''re pointing to the same data. Signed-off-by: Liu Bo <bo.li.liu@oracle.com> ---

[PATCH 1/5] fs: allow short direct-io reads to be completed via buffered IO V2
V1->V2: Check to see if our current ppos is >= i_size after a short DIO read, just in case it was actually a short read and we need to just return. This is similar to what already happens in the write case. If we have a short read while doing O_DIRECT, instead of just returning, fallthrough and try to read the rest via buffered IO. BTRFS needs this because if we encounter a compressed or

[PATCH] Progs: update convert for uninitialized block groups
Hello, There is a new feature ''uninitialized block groups'' in ext4. Block and inode bitmaps in uninitialized block groups are uninitialized. This confuses the converter. The fix is call ext2fs_new_inode for each block group at open time. It set up uninitialized block and inode bitmaps appropriately. This patch also contains some other minor fixes. Thank you, Signed-off-by: Yan
