Samba4 - ACL not applied/followed (worked in samba 3.0.11)
Hi.
samba 4.1.1.. User has unix rights for writing, but samba denies write
access to him.
On samba server:

groups=20(users-nis),2108(evis),2109(slp),2112(hernie),2126(poj),2133(hto),20000(users)
-> user amistest is in "poj" group

I am trying to do a classicupgrade. (This is not 1st try, I went through it

questions now.)

Backing up tdb files
I am trying to determine which tdb files must be backed up in order to
perform a proper system restore. I am running Centos's
samba-4.9.1-6.el7.x86_64 as a PDC. There is a basic backup routine which
backs up all files under /var/lib/samba but this appears to be wasteful,
especially as gencache.tdb keeps growing until I delete.
I can find a Samba3 reference at

use spnego question - samba 47 to samba48 migration
Hi Rowland,
Thanks Much for the help, as usual!
About Kerberos: Yes, I have implemented Kerberos and NTLM. I need both working.
About winbindd_privileged: Not sure what you mean with " I think you might want to check that again, the 'winbindd_privileged' dir went away quite some time ago."
Shouldn't that folder be there anymore? Everytime I install Samba47 or 48 it creates

Hello Gentlemen.
OK, Tests were made. I got some errors only when using Samba48 (samba47 is still fine)
IMPORTANT: I forgot to mention... This is being used with SQUID Proxy for SSO authentication.

Odd behavior w/ read raw and write raw under NT1
A coworker and I have been doing some performance tuning with Samba 20b4
under Linux 2.0.36 (RedHat 5.2 distribution) on a 100-T network. The
protocol is NT1. Two settings are tweaked in particular, "read raw" and
"write raw". When both are yes, reading a large file results in 6M/s, but
writing is only 2M/s, which is far below writing to an NT server (6M/s).

Samba vs Microsoft Logon Protocols
Hello,
I am trying to figure out how the different values for "max
protocol" and "min protocol" (as seen in the smb.conf man page under the
"max protocol" section) correlate to the Microsoft jargon for the
different logon protocols. Here is what I've determined. Could some
please verify this for me?

hp officejet 9130 and samba
we're using an hp officejet 9130 (all in one printer/scanner), wich has
the possibility to store scans on a network share (smb).
path, username and password are checked on a workstation and are ok.
the printer has full access to the network.
unfortunally samba denies access:

How to print kernel global variable.
I am doing some testing on the adjtime syscall, and I want to
dump out the value of the kernel variable "timedelta", and I
am failing at it. Some of my attempts got "Module is no longer
loaded" and some got "Symbol table entry is not a data object"
I found some info that dtrace can print out kernel global
variable, so what am I missing here?

Problem with XP after upgrade from 2.2 -> 3.0
Hello All,
About 2 weeks ago I upgraded from debian woody to sarge. This
included an upgrade from Samba2.2 -> Samba3.0. However since the
upgrade I have problems using my Samba server from my XP (home) Laptop.
The symptoms are basically "explorer" freezeing on most network
browseing type actions. Or if I open a file (eg a movie). I'm pretty
confident that I don't have a
