Re: use of qemu-kvm --chardev pipe, id=X, path=... argument ?
Aha! Thank you. Yes that does prevent the default stdio console .
But no output appears on the input pipe, and outputting to input end has
no effect:
In one terminal, I do:
$ cat /tmp/el6x32.out
in the main terminal, I run:
$ /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -M rhel6.4.0 -cpu n270 -smp 1 -hda
/home/rpmbuild/OEL6/img/OEL6_32.img -kernel
/home/rpmbuild/OEL6/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.39-400.215.14.el6uek.i686 -initrd

use of qemu-kvm --chardev pipe, id=X, path=... argument ?
Please can anyone enlighten me as to why linux qemu-kvm always
creates the console on my terminal, when I am trying to direct
all of its input and output to a pipe ?
I have created :
$ mkfifo /tmp/el6x32{.in,.out,.monitor}
and use the command:
$ /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -M rhel6.4.0 -cpu n270 -smp 1 \
-hda /home/rpmbuild/OEL6/img/OEL6_32.img \
-kernel

[PATCH][XENTOP][0/4] Display blktap statistics.
Hi.
These patches add the output function for blktap statistics into xentop.
Currently, xentop outputs only blkback statistics, and not blktap statistics.
By these patches, xentop is made cover both blkback and blktap.
In xen, back-end driver has two types; blkback and blktap.
Blkback driver is old back-end driver.
Blktap driver is new back-end driver and is recommended currently.
Usage of both

Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)
blktap fails to build on kernel 3.13 and probably older kernels as well. According to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blktap-dkms/+bug/1245009 VM_RESERVED is deprecated as of 3.7. Building with the patch described in that bug allows for

Bug#790642: blktap-utils: Incomplete/stub-only manpages
Package: blktap-utils
Version: 2.0.90-3
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
Man pages for blktap-utils are effectively stubs, with no useful
content whatsoever. It would have been better to just leave them out (even
if lintian and/or ftpmaster would have complained)
Will try to follow up with newly-created manpages.
Thanks
