CentOS 7.6 1810 vs. VirtualBox : bug with keyboard layout selection
Hi, I'm currently working on my next Linux book, which will be an elementary course about CentOS administration. I'm using VirtualBox for all the installer screenshots. Since CentOS has recently been upgraded to version 7.6, I thought I might as well base all book references on this version. So I downloaded the 7.6 1810 minimal ISO and started a fresh installation in VirtualBox. I'm

How do I switch the keyboard layout?
Hello there. I'm trying to switch the keyboard layout for a wine application to a nonsystem standard. Background: system standard is dvorak, but that horribly conflicts with the AWSD movement control of games. Stuff I tried and failed: * switching the layout in the GNOME panel keyboard layout switcher * rewriting the xorg.conf for english as standard language * loading us layout with loadkey

Keyboard layout switching bug: workaround?
Hi, I'm an Austrian writer living in Montpezat (South France). I've been 100% GNU/Linux for the past five years, and I recently switched from Slackware to CentOS, for the sake of comfort. Overall impression: I like it! I have a few problems to solve yet in my migration effort, mostly minor annoyances. First things first. I need three different keyboard layouts: de, fr_CH and fr. I'm

Changing the keyboard layout
Hello, I have a strange problem with a game: I want to assign the key on the left side to the number "one" (degree key in Germany) to an action in a program, but the application does not recognize the button if I start the application normally. If I set in gnome my default keyboard-layout to a US-layout it works fine. But I don't want my default keyboard layout to be a US-layout, so

Your keyboard layout was not found! ???????
I have the following error while installing the Benelux map (Garmin) : fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_KEYBOARD_DetectLayout Your keyboard layout was not found! Instead of using closest match (Belgian keyboard layout) for scancode mapping. Please define your layout in windows/x11drv/keyboard.c and submit them to us for inclusion into future Wine releases. See documentation/keyboard for more information.

Problem with keyboard layout
Hi! I'm trying to set up a fully virtualized server using Xen; both host and guest operating system is CentOS-5.2. Otherwise it seems to work fairly well, but I can't get my finnish keyboard work correctly for the guest (when using virt-viewer. No problems on the host). In the beginning, using default settings, the behaviour was as if the keyboard layout had been set to "U.S.

Default Keyboard Layout changed to english.
Hello, i upgraded debian from lenny to squeeze and i managed to mess up config file or update (cuz i'm quite noob when it comes to linux). I'm gonna try to explain best to my abillity, how i got where i am right now (bear in mind that this is my first time in this list). Since smbpasswd and pdbedit had mysteriously vanished after upgrade, i did reinstall to samba (3.5.6 PDC with

CentOS 7 + KDE - default keyboard layout?
Hi, I'm currently fiddling with CentOS 7 and KDE 4.14, and I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. This is one of the cleanest implementations of KDE I've ever seen, and with some tweaking (a lot, in fact) this can be turned into a highly functional desktop with all the bling and bells and whistles. But right now, I have some minor problems to solve. First things first. My system is
