XML package not working
I know I cannot be the only one who is not able to install the XML package from CRAN (zip or tar file) Many packages depend on this XML package. Can someone help me either access the source for a good binary? I have received no assistance from the author/developer of the package. Steven Steven D. Windows 7 installation of .qz package from SourceForge
Hello, I'm trying to install the package metRology from SourceForge. I save the zip file metRology_0.9-06.tar.gz to my Windows 7 machine, and try to install the package using the RGUI: Packages > Install packages from local zip files > metRology_0.9-06.tar.gz. There's no .zip extension, but R seems to go to work on the installation with a couple warning messages and one error.

COZIGAM removed from CRAN
Hi All, Another quick question - I noticed that COZIGAM has been removed from CRAN, and that you are referred to the archive for previous versions (last updated 23 July 2012). Is this package still ok to use? Or is there an alternative which might also fit zero-inflated GAMs? Thanks, Raeanne The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) is registered in Scotland as a Company Limited by

produce a map in ARCGIS from a GAM output
Hi, I am trying to predict the habitat suitability of lobster with GAMs. I need to produce a map in ArcGis of the predicted densities. I did some search and the function predict.gam seems to do the job. Is this the right way to do it? when you apply the function you get the predicted values (different from your input data points) but I do not understand what is the procedure with the spatial

packaging my function
Dear all, I write to you because there seems to be something I'm just not 'getting' in the way R lets you construct a new package. Google and this mailing list's archive don't seem to have the answer to my specific case so I signed up and mailed the question myself. So I've written this function that I wan't to make a package out of. Here is what I've done so far:

glm: modelling zeros as binary and non-zeroes as coming from a continuous distribution
Hello, I'd like to implement a regression model for extremely zero-inflated continuous data using a conditional approach, whereby zeroes are modelled as coming from a binary distribution, while non-zero values are modelled as log-normal. So far, I've come across two solutions for this: one, in R, is described in the book by Gelman & Hill (http://www.amazon.com/dp/052168689X), where
