Clients unable to get group policy...
Sorry for the delay, I have been out of town. Your hunch was correct, Rowland. Both getent and id only return local machine accounts, not domain accounts. What have I overlooked which would cause this? I do have winbind in my PAM configuration. James, it has worked for a few years. It recently (in the last year) started having workstations report being unable to access the gpt.ini files. The

Winbind error "Could not fetch our SID - did we join?"
We did, in fact, join mere seconds ago, but for some reason, winbind still can't find itself. ADUC etc meanwhile have no trouble finding the newly added computer account. Wiping /var/{lib,cache}/samba/ (and the computer account) makes no difference, the error persists. How do I proceed? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen, / Best Regards, Sven Schwedas, Systemadministrator Mail/XMPP sven.schwedas

Winbindd runs interactively, fails as a daemon
Hi, I have server which is joined to an AD DC but I am having problems starting or keeping winbind running. If I reboot the server, it fails to start. If I then start it with "winbindd -i" it runs. I can then terminate it and run it as a service and it works for a while. At some indeterminate point in the future it may fail again. When trying to start it initially (before a winbindd

wbinfo -K not working
Dear List! I have the problem described at http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2008-February/138451.html It is materialized after an upgrade of samba/winbind. Everything was working before. I could not find the solution neither on the net, nor from people originally having the problem, so here I am. This problem is a showstopper for me. (I can login by changing pam_winbind to pam_krb5, but this

solution: wbinfo -K not working
Hi! The problem lies in the "winbind separator" settings. If I use winbind separator = \\ everything goes well. I believe this is due to a bug. As I don't want to register to yet another bugzilla, please someone issue the report there. Explanation: winbindd_raw_kerberos_login uses parse_domain_user to generate the kerberos principal from state->request.data.auth.user at this

[LLVMdev] GSoC 2009: An LLVM Backend for TPA
Hi all, I'd like to write an LLVM backend for TPA processor architecture as part of 2009's Google Summer of Code program. TPA processor is a new architecture that offers the possibility of high instruction-level parallelism with energy efficiency. TPA architecture partitions the work between the compiler and the hardware differently from RISC and CISC architectures. TPA architecture has

multicolumn sort on dataframe?
I couldn't find any reference to this in the FAQ, but is it possible to sort a dataframe by multiple columns? I've created some code, similar to the following: nspr.code <- sp.results$sp.code[order( sp.results$sp.code )] nspr.tpa <- sp.results$tpa[order( sp.results$sp.code )] nspr.code <- as.character( levels( nspr.code ) )[nspr.code] nspr.tpa <- as.numeric( levels( nspr.tpa

Bug on PAM_Winbind ?
Hello guys, I am using PAM (0.82) to authenticate (samba) workgroup users and it works fine (pam_smbpass). But after joining a domain and start using pam_winbind too, pwauth (2.3.10) get a segmentation fault when trying to authenticate any workgroup or domain user. What happens is that it does authenticate the user successfully, but when it calls pam_end() to release its resources, it crashes.

Fwd: Follow Up - Problem with groups & joining domain.- LDAP
Follow up to original post. If I created local groups and users in /etc/passwd & /etc/groups I get farther along. For instance, if I have a Samba PDC with LDAP basically like I listed in my post. If I browse from a w2k pro box to the samba server without the workstation having joined the domain, I can authenticate to the samba server with a user who is not in /etc/passwd but is in LDAP. So
