Runing multiple daemons with systemctl
Hi all,
I am doing some tests with a CentOS7 vm image before to enter in our
production environment. I need to migrate some sysvinit scripts to
systemctl.
In all of them I need to launch some daemons in the same init script.
For example:
a) start daemon1
b) if daemon1 returns no startup errors, launch daemon2
c) if daemon1 returns any startup error, doesn't start daemon2 and exit.

Yum updates packages for other arch too
Hi,
I have the x86_64 arch on my server so therfore i expect that yum
updates only x86_64 packages.
With the last *yum update* i?ve noticed a strange behaviour while
retrieving the needed packeges. As you you see, yum wants install
packages for different architectures:
glibc x86_64 2.3.4-2.25 base 4.9 M
glibc i686 2.3.4-2.25 base 5.1 M

slapd 100% cpu
Greetings,
We have been attempting to set up a centos ldap server and then tried
to log in with a user account specified in our ldap environment on a
centos workstation.
As soon as we attempt any kind of login from the centos workstation,
be it via gdm or su ldap_user, the slapd process on the ldap server
goes to 100% cpu.
Is this normal behaviour?

Does anyone know what causes this error?
I have setup a local CentOS repository, with mrepo, and can succesfully use
it for updates & installation of just about anything. Yet, this error comes
up.
Here's my /etc/yum.conf:

Any alternatives for the horrible reposync
Hi,
I'm currently trying to mirror a couple of yum repositories and the only
tool that seems to be available for this is reposync.
Unfortunately reposync for some inexplicable reason seems to use the yum
config of the local system as a basis for its work which makes no sense
and creates all kinds of problems where cache directories and metadata
gets mixed up.
Are there any alternatives? Some

Hi
I wanted to download and install the net-snmp package. Usually on my
other CentOS boxes i use the following command to do it:

I was able to successfully install net-snmp on 4 of my CentOS boxes but

slowness with new kernel+nouveau?
Hello,
New kernel version 2.6.32-279.2.1.el6.x86_64 in combination with
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau Version:0.0.16 is somehow painfully slow on my
laptop.
during start up it takes almost half a minute for gnome login to appear.
After having logged in the following happens:
- gnome top and bottom panels "slide/crawl" in to view one pixel line at

- starting the terminal takes much more

CentOS 6 update issues
Hello all,
I manage a few servers overseas that are running CentOS 6.
When performing a yum update, it fails because it's trying to download from:
mirror.centos.org/centos/*6.6*/extras/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml
Which fails due to the fact that the entire 6.6 directory is empty on all
of the mirrors I have checked. From what I can tell it should be using:

centosplus + priority plugin
I have a Centos 4 box that has been updated all the way to 4.6 without
using the centosplus repository.
Now I want to use the centosplus repository for Centos 4 to get the
latest LAMP, mod_perl, perl and other perl modules so that I can install
rt 3.6.6 and its necessary modules.
However, for some reason, the latest perl package in the centosplus
repository does not appear on the radar when

local repo
Hi all,
When I am installing I use kickstart and have a line like:
repo --name=Updates
--baseurl=http://192.168.1.14/centos/5.6/updates/x86_64/
and that works great for installing the OS.
After that the machine reboots and I have it automatically go into
additional installations running scripts.
These installations do "yum install XXX".
However, its no longer using my above repo
