Regular crashes
I have just setup asterisk on a debian sarge box. I am running Asterisk 1.21 with AMP and chan_capi_cm 0.6.1 using a BT Speedway (AVM Fritz) ISDN card, connected to a BT ISDN2e line. Currently we have 6 extensions (SIP) configured all using CounterPath(Xten) eyebeam softphone. After many hours of Googling I have finally got it all setup and working. We can transfer calls internally and make and

Regular Crashes - Partially Solved
Thanks Paradise, this seems to have worked a treat!!! I commented out the: exten => 110,hint,SIP/110 lines which were in extensions_additional.conf for each sip extension I had. This seems to have stopped the crashes which were previously 3-5 times a day, now: System uptime: 1 day, 18 hours, 10 minutes, 3 seconds Interestingly it had the knock on effect of fixing another problem I had

8.3 name mangling options going wrong ?
I've just bumped into a name mangling issue with Samba which I'm sure people have already found before me...... If you create 2 files called moss_burn.bmp & moss_bend.bmp on a Samba share that has been mapped to a drive under windows then a 'dir' in a DOS shell will show that the 8.3 filenames of these two files are identical......MOSS_~UV.BMP... which is not good for legacy

Wierd 8.3 Name Mangling
I've installed Samba 3.0.7 (stock Debian package), but I'm having some wierd problems with name mangling. The relevant lines in smb.conf are: preserve case = yes short preserve case = yes mangled names = yes mangle prefix = 5 mangling method = hash2 In a share, I did "touch test-file.GHO" to create a long filename. When I do a "dir" under DOS,

Permission Mangling while migrating W2k fileserver to samba
I am migrating a rather large Windows 2k fileserver to samba. I have acl's working acceptably in samba, but am having trouble getting data from the windows server, to the Samba server with all (would settle for most) of the permissions intact. Have tried XCOPY, and various backup, and archiving programs, and while most of the ACL's make it over, the "owner" permission seems to

Latest kernel fixes AMD cool 'n quiet
Just thought I'd follow up on my post from around august.... it seems that the latest kernel has indeed fixed the cool 'n quiet issues with my Athlon X2 3800. basically the following messages were appearing; powernow-k8: ignoring illegal change in lo freq table-2 to 0x2 powernow-k8: transition frequency failed and both cores were going at full 2.0ghz speed. Now with

ldap passdb failover
Hi, Does the passdb backend = ldapsam:"ldap://ldap.daa.com.au ldap://yaminon.daa.com.au", smbpasswd syntax actually do proper failover? I have a samba 3.0.9 server on FC2 that's been overheating (our aircon failed), and the ldap server doesn't start automatically. The logs said: [2006/01/10 08:55:47, 0] lib/smbldap.c:smbldap_open_connection(678) Failed to issue the

DOS style 8.3 filename mangling issues??!
Okay, I've run through all of the tests in the DIAGNOSE, which my 1.9.18p1 SAMBA server (and NT4SP3/W95 clients) pass with flying colours. server box: Linux 2.0.33, gcc 2.7.2.2, libc 5.4.33, shadow, quota on (usr+grp), and my smb.conf is summarised (by testparm output) below: Problem is this: with respect to programs not long filename-aware/compliant, users cannot "double-click" on

getcifsacl does not work with CIFS mount versions 2 or 3
Hi When I mount CIFS share (mount -t cids) with vers=1.0 I can perform getcifsacl sucessfully. But when I mount with vers=2.0, or 2.1, or 3.0, ACL reading fails. getxattr error: 95 REVISION:0x0 CONTROL:0x0 Why getcifsacl depends on SMB protocol version? Can I read ACL via newer SMB protocol? A asked on Serverfault but without reply:

Off Topic: UPS units and heat generation
Hi all A slightly off topic post, but one that I think someone out there in the NUT community could probably help me with. Summer is coming, and my office at home is getting hot... helped in part by the APC 3KVA UPS I have sitting under my desk. It kicks out heat like a bar-heater, even when there is almost no load on it (idle load is one PC, one switch, one wireless AP, and thats it). It is

CentOS 7 AD member having issues with AD groups
Hi guys, I've joined CentOS 7 successfully to AD as member server, and set couple of shares. But, limiting access by listing groups, or forcing group write isn't working. Samba is clearly having issues with groups. This is example share not working at all (constantly asking for authentication): [tools] path = /data/tools/ comment = Web development

Pre-sign "offline" servers?
How can I pre-sign a server which doesn''t yet have a domain pointing to it? I''m trying to get an EC2 "base image" together which is pre-signed with our master, so I can spin-up as many instances as required. These instances which will all share the same characteristics and files (they''re basically dupes), and will all sit behind a load-balancer, so

com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: Auth fail
