Ext4 mess .... and EXT4-fs error (device sdc): ext4_mb_generate_buddy
Hi, I'm faced with a very strange behaviour: Centos 6.5 server, Hardware ISCSI HBA from Emulex OneConnect, most recent drivers and firmware from emulex installed. Directly attached a 10G ISCSI Storage from QSan. Two Raid volumes, Raid 5, 8 Disks each at 2 TB so 14 TB each logic raid volume. Both volumes are logged in and usable as sdb and sdc to the server. Formatted with ext4 -m 0 -v

NetApp NFS vs. ZFS and NFS for Maildir
Hi, I'm evaluating to switch from NetApp to a ZFS appliance (like Qsan). Our setup is Dovecot, Maildir for email storage and NFS to share mailboxes (more than 30k users) across POP/IMAP and MX servers. NetApp NFS works fine also under high load but have some limitation for inode numbers per Volume and is expensive (but recently their prices have dropped). ZFS, I read, suggest to create

Problems getting rsync working...
I am having some problems getting rsync working. No files get copied, although the server HD light DOES come on for about a second when I run the client rsync command. The /etc/rsyncd.conf on the server: ============================== uid = root gid = root log = /var/log/rsync.log read only = no [email] # Email data files from /var/spool/mail on Proxy (192.168.0.100) path = /home/databackup/

suggestions for a "fast" fileserver - 1G / 10G
Hi, I'm looking for some recommendations for a "fast" fileserver regarding the hardware you use. We have different fileservers as our requirements changed over time. The "main" problem we are faced with is, that with smb (windows 7 and OS X) clients we never get really close to GBit speed on reads or writes. Using the same servers/storages with ftp, ssh, rsync, nfs we

HP MicroServer
A bit OT, but I'm running CentOS-5.6 on this machine (in fact on two of them) and it seems to run perfectly - I've had no problems at all. Except that I'd like to add a second ethernet port, and am not sure where one can find a card that will fit this machine. As far as I can see, it requires a half-height PCIe card, which seems to be rather a rare animal. (There doesn't seem to

Accessing multiple Active Directory accounts simultaneously from a single Linux server
Hello, I have been doing a lot of research on this subject and I'm not finding a clear answer. My company currently makes a video capture and transcoding application that runs on a Linux server. The video application mounts shares from a second Linux storage server for various users at the same time. In other words, we have: A Linux Storage Server with many accounts (for example,

Broadcom NetXtreme bcm5720 in the 9.1 beta
Team I have a Dell PowerEdge R720xd, with the Broadcom NetXtreme bcm5720. I found the following thread: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=31769 I find I am unable to use the NIC's (there are 4 on the server). When we put a cable into it we get a "watchdog timeout -- resetting" error, and the machine will pause for 5 or so seconds. IP may or may not come up randomly.

partition table Cent4RC1
I just installed CentRC1 on a Dell gx150 as a test. I'm running into the same problem I had with Fc3. I get a partition table error when trying to use ghost8 to create an image. I was considering putting Cent4 on a ProliantDL380, FC3 installed on that machine but wouldn't boot up, stuck on Grub. I had FC2 on the Proliant but when FC2 went to the 2.6 kernel, it hung up on the Nash prompt.

Mysql 5.6, Centos 7 and errno: 24 - Too many open files
Hi, may be somewon has a working solution and information on that: I installed the most recent mysql community on a server and do get a lot of "errno: 24 - Too many open files". There are suggestions to increase the open_files_limit, change/add that to /etc/security/limits.conf and modify the systemd script by hand. Depending on how you start mysql (restart, or at systemboot time

Can access share by two different names .... Just one is configured.
Hi, I have a samba 4.6 member server joined to an 4.6 AD. There is a share named [videosupport2] with access rights for a user Videosupport. Now I’m able to connect to the share from an macOS client by share name videosupport2 AND just videosupport without the „2“ at the end …. Any hints why? Regards . Götz

AW: strange copy speed
Hello G?tz, could you do a closer look at your smbd (maybe with truss or strace) to see what exactly happens? or maybe it would be enough to watch traffic between your client and server (and traffic between your server and nameserver, domaincotroler (if involved)) best regards, chris -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: samba-bounces+christian.masopust=siemens.com@lists.samba.org
