(D)DNS Updates with GNU/Linux clients in a samba 4 AD environment (BIND_DLZ)
Hi ! I bounce on the Mr Sloop's post ([Samba] DDNS / DHCPd && Internal DNS or BIND_DLZ) to ask what's the easiest way to allow Linux clients to update themself their DNS record in the Samba4 AD server (with BIND_DLZ Dns server). It works well with windows clients, but with Linux clients joined to the domain, with a valid Kerberos ticket, the client receive a error

DDNS / DHCPd && Internal DNS or BIND_DLZ
So, I don't see much on the Wiki [actually nothing] and the relevant threads on the issue are few. So, let me try to outline what appears to be the current state of things and if I'm wrong, please correct me. Running DHCPd on the Samba 4 server works fine. Doing DDNS [dynamic DNS] updates can work with the BIND9_DLZ setup, but not the internal DNS setup. However, if the connecting Samba

Unable to add AD users to local groups
Greetings, I have Samba 4.4.7 running on several Sparc boxes running Solaris 9 as member servers in an Active Directory environment. (I do not control the AD configuration) I am able to connect to the servers using windows clients and smbclient - the problem I have run into is when I try to add domain users to local groups on the Samba servers I am told the users do not exist. As these

DDNS, DHCP and AD
Looking for general theory here - perhaps this will devolve into more "how to" later, but right now I need overall understanding. We handle DHCP outside AD. We also do DDNS there, and handle DNS lookups. Here's what the current setup looks like We have a pair of DHCP servers (ISC DHCPD) and those same boxes handle DNS for the network. They're in the DNS domain of, lets say;

Samba 4 internal DNS and reverse zones
Hi All, I currently have another thread open on squid authentication with Samba 4 and am going to try authenticating against kerberos instead of NTLM. According to the docs for the web filter I'm using, it's essential for Kerberos to be able to resolve reverse DNS so I've spent the last weekend trying to get this working. Various different documents and howtos exist but none of

Samba4 Secondary DC as Backup DC (redundancy)
Hi all, I'm looking for the same setup: two samba ad servers to back up each other on failover. Have you managed to find a viable solution? Thanks in advance! 2015-06-24 19:41 GMT+03:00 Daniel Carrasco Marín <danielmadrid19 at gmail.com>: > 2015-06-24 11:12 GMT+02:00 Daniel Carrasco Marín <danielmadrid19 at gmail.com > >: > > > > > > > 2015-06-23

Configure DHCP to update DNS records problem
Hello all, After several days of working on this, I'm stuck. Hopefully someone can point out what I'm missing here. I'm working with this script to dynamically update my Samba AD DC DNS: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records Short of it: The script does not update the DNS records due to samba-tool failing for some unknown reason. Long of it:
