Problem to demote samba4 dc
Hi all, I recently migrated our samba 3 domain to an AD domain using Samba 4 classic upgrade tool. Well, every seems to work fine since i'm still alive ;) . I promoted a Windows 2k8 box as a new DC of this domain and I transfer the 5 FSMO roles to it. Now I would like to demote the Samba4 DC but when I tried I got this message : # samba-tool domain demote ERROR: Current DC is still

This would suggest that we really do want primality proofs (and a good way to verify them). Do those algorithms hold for

Migrate from Samba 4 to Samba 4?
Hi All, Does anyone know if there's a Samba 4 to Samba 4 migration process? Sounds weird, but it has a logical reason: I've a several-year-old S4 implementation, from an early Alpha (10 I think?) that hasn't been in the best of shape of late - when S4 4.0.0 arrived, I accidentally upgraded using my normal "git pull; ./configure; make; make install" procedure and instead of

Demoting offline DC on 4.3.11-Ubuntu
I have recently added a DC to my AD - Former DC was Samba 4.1.6, new DC is 4.3.11 (latest supported by Ubuntu). There's also a Window 2008 server I had tried to join as an AD - that server, wouldn't completely join and replicate to the 4.1.6 samba AD, and now it will not Un-join the AD "domain" either via dcpromo. This brings me to my actual question - Now that I have

Internal DNS and Replication
I'm trying to join a Linux server running Samba 4.0.4 as a DC to an existing AD domain. The current DC (server1) is running Server 2008 not R2. The Samba server (server2) is using internal DNS. I'm following "Samba4/HOWTO/Join a domain as a DC" from the wiki. The join seems to work, but I'm having problems with DNS replication. During the join many DNS records for

Samba 4 Orphaned DC
Is there a list of commands for cleaning up orphaned DC's. I used ntdsutil on the Windows boxes no problem. Used an LDAP gui tool to remove the LDAP entries. Sadly Samba4 is still trying to contact the orphan. Any guidance or manual page would be appreciated. Cheers, TMS III
