Need to migrate a centos image from xen source to xenserver
Have an Onapp system we are migrating away from to xenserver and it uses
Xen source images I believe. I had no problem moving the MS Windows
servers using the xenconvert utility, but not being a linux guy the
conversion process of moving files from Onapp to xenserver is not clear.
I think the files on Onapp are .img files, but they don''t use extensions
from what I can tell when they

XVA.PY Trouble
I''m attempting to convert a CentOs 5.6 x64 machine from Xen (Open Source) to
Citrix XenServer and I am having some trouble towards the final stages. I
need to take the .XVA created by XVA.PY and use XenConvert to manipulate
this into another file format (OVF).
Here''s the process I use:
1. Poweroff the VM
2. Create a new disk in 3 times the size of the primary

[XCP] Error when trying to import vmware images
Hi list,
I have recently migrated to XCP from Vmware Server 2 and have run into
issues importing the VM''s
Following citrix''s guide I tried using XenCenter to do the import directly
on the vmdk files
this resulted in XenCenter logging this error:
"Failed to import. ---> System.Exception: Failed to import virtual disk

XCP: disk2vhd -> xenconvert (to ovf) -> xe vm-import
Hi all,
I`m evaluating methods for nightly "snapshot" a physical win2003 to
xcp vm.
I know it would be a lot easier and reliable just to to one convert
one time and start to generate real vm snapshots, but at this time I
cannot use this method.
I tested the sequence: disk2vdh -> xenconvert (to xcp), but a big
deal of using this method is that xenconvert does not send

XenServer Tools For Linux
Hi,
I installed two linux VMs in XenServer 6.0, one is CentOS 5.5 and the
other is Ubuntu 10.04, both of which are HVMs. I install xenserver tools
many times and the packages are installed, but XenCenter keeps telling me
that "Xenserver tools is not installed". Are xenserver tools of linux
intended only for PV vm? I am not familiar with xenserver and need
help.Thanks!

migrating from XenServer / XCP to libvirt/KVM
I've been using XenServer / XCP (with the "xe" toolset) for a number of
years for hosting servers used for development and free software
projects and I'm now looking at migrating all those environments to
libvirt / KVM.
I had a look at the wiki[1] already and didn't see XenServer mentioned
there.
Could anybody help comment on or explain a few things:

Shared storage between open Xen, VMware ESX, XenServer, KVM and a normal Linux...
Guys!
I have one fiber channel IBM storage (10T) and 8 HP Proliant servers with
32G of RAM on each and 1 HP with 4G of RAM.
My question is:
* How to use the same storage (block device) with all my different
virtualization servers simultaneously?
I have 2 open source Xen with CentOS 5.4, 2 VMWare ESX, 2 Citrix XenServer,
2 KVM powered by Ubuntu and 1 Debian exporting the IBM storage to a SAN

XCP vs XenServer (free edition) or is it XCP mature enough?
Hello,
I am a system manager of a datacenter. Is this moment, we about 30-40
xen servers running 2 or 3 domUs each of them. We are now using
(standalone) xen over debian lenny. We manage each xen server
independently, but we are looking for a central management console.
At this moment, I have the doubt about using citrix xenserver (the free
edition) or XCP. I didn''t know much

XCP - xenserver tools required?
One of the issues I''ve had using XenServer in a multitenant environment is
the requirement for the VMs to have xentools installed as it causes
significant issues when upgrading the VM OS or the pool from one version
of XenServer (XCP) to another. Having to touch hundreds VMs (by hand)
after an upgrade just doesn''t scale nor is delegating the task to VM
owners an option.

Help with Citrix XenServer
Hi,
It''s been forever and a day since I last posted here, mainly because I
haven''t touched Xen in a few years now due to job changes... But now
I''ve been handed a project to work with XenServer, Citrix''s commercial
grade Xen.
So, I wanted to ask if there were any people here with experience
using XenServer, XenCenter and so on, or if you knew of a better list

FreeBSD 8.2 XENHVM Kernel on Xencloud
Good afternoon,
The subject practically is saying what I''m trying to ask but... does
anyone tried FreeBSD 8.2 or similar under Cytrix Xenserver or XenCloud?. I
have been doing some benchmarks and seems to perform pretty nice... and
seems to be
stable too; the only thing would be nice to be available for FreeBSD at
Xenserver/Xencloud would be the Xenserver/Xencloud''s

Xen to XenServer
I didn''t want to re-open this old post that I found:
http://xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/xen-users-Need-to-migrate-a-centos-image-from-xen-source-to-xenserver-td5532281.html
however I am in the same predicament.
Can anyone explain how to extract a Windows Server 2008 VM from Xen and
import it into XenServer?

System Requirements for Samba?
Hi Rob,
I'm not sure you will get much pleasure out of VirtualBox on that
hardware. It sits completely on top of the OS and it will grab most of
the resources, even hogging from the OS. And it will run very hot. The
Xen hypervisor (incl. XenServer, XCP-NG) is very resource efficient and
with Linux guests (PV or PVHVM), it will run very smoothly. The same
applies to KVM. My FX-6300 box
