Problems with power management xen 3.4
I''ve a problem with managing power consumption on Intel Nehalem CPU.
I''ve installed Xen 3.4 on our Dell PowerEdge T610 system on a Ubuntu
9.04 distribution. I recompiled the kernel 2.6.30rc5. Now I can see
the c-states of the CPUs but no access to P-states information and the
frequency scaling does not work.
By the way, if I run the kernel 2.6.28.13 which is the last one

Problems with power management
I do not seem to be able to get any where with the power management
functions. I have had a look at the xenpm Wiki page, but it hasn''t
helped. Its probably something completely obvious, but I can''t see it.
I running Xen 3.4.0 on Centos 5.3 x86_64 using the gitco RPMs on an
Intel S5000PSL motherboard with 2 x Xeon 5410s. Dom0 is running the

Lenovo T460p post 7.4 CR possible problems
It means it's time to open up your' laptop and evict all the dust bunnies.? it's overheating on one desktop but not the other because one of your' desktops, as configured on your system is using the processor more.? this is how laptops die as most people just whine and complain as their' laptop gets slower and less stable.?
the first part to fail is often the hard drive.?

Why is cpu-to-node mapping different between Xen 4.0.2-rc1-pre and Xen 4.1-unstable?
My system is a dual Xeon E5540 (Nehalem) HP Proliant DL380G6. When
switching between Xen 4.0.2-rc1-pre and Xen 4.1-unstable I noticed
that the NUMA info as shown by the Xen ''u'' debug-key is different.
More specifically, the CPU to node mapping is alternating for 4.0.2
and grouped sequentially for 4.1. This difference affects the
allocation (wrt node/socket) of pinned VCPUs to the

top on host and guest
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
I have a 6.3 guest running on a 6.3 host and the output from top seems
strange to me. At least I did not expect this.
While in the guest on core is busy with i/o the host seems idle.
Does anyone know why it is this way?
See the output from top below, first the one from guest, then host.

question about top output
hi all,
below is the output of top off a machine i have, sorted by CPU utilization.
my question is, how can all 8 CPUs say they're pegged at 100% user utilization, when there are just these 8 processes saying they're using 25% of a CPU each, and no other processes showing up taking any resources? i have run this test on other machines and they act as expected. i found this b/c this

Back trace from rcutree.c after resuming from S3
Hi,
after solving the issue I had with a DVB tuner I tested again
suspending and resuming from S3.
I am now running Xen 4.2.0 and have applied patches [1] and [2] (any
idea why they are still not in mainline?) over a 3.5.3 kernel. I only
tried once since I upgraded my Xen, but after resuming I got the
following back trace:

Zaptel/DAHDI error's on PRI
Hi
I've been running into a weird issue, which its hard to get any information
on. We successfully setup a R710 system with Asterisk 1.4.22 / libpri 1.4.7,
utilizing a Digium TE121B Pci express card. However we are having some
stability issues and can't seem to trace it down to if it is a card/system
issue or our PRI vendor having a dirty line. I know some will say it is a
old version of

Maybe it’s a good idea first to implement Spice:

FreeBSD 10 Beta 2: make installkernel failure with installer provided ZFS configuration.
Hi,
I was trying to rebuild world on a FreeBSD 10 test system, that I had just
installed. ZFS root was setup. I let the installation program do all the
ZFS setup and configuration. I put root on a 5 disk encrypted raidz array.
Besides the installer configuring 5 times the amount of swap space I asked
for (asked for 8gb, installer put 8gb on each drive, for 40gb in total.)
everything was working
