setting up a dedicated NIC for replication
Hi all, I evaluate Glusterfs for storing virtual machines (KVM). I am looking for how configuring a dedicated network (vlan) for Gluster's replication. Because the configuration is based on only one DNS name, I don't know how to configure Gluster's nodes in order to: - Use production network, for hypervisors communications - Use replicated/heartbeat

Gluster Self Heal
Hi, I have a 2-node gluster with 3 TB storage. 1) I believe the "glusterfsd" is responsible for the self healing between the 2 nodes. 2) Due to some network error, the replication stopped for some reason but the application was accessing the data from node1. When I manually try to start "glusterfsd" service, its not starting. Please advice on how I can maintain

Debian repo and i386 builds
Hello! Why Debian repo is so strange? Path to a repo should not contain version and subversion numbers. Now you can't receive and even check updates automatically. It's very-very simple to create correct repo. You can even add to it all versions of packages, if it is important. And where is i386 builds? Could anybody create a correct Debian repo for gluster from existing one?

peer probe fails (107)
Hi gluster: Im getting the cryptic 107 error, (I guess this means gluster can't see a peer)... gluster peer probe vm-2 peer probe: failed: Probe returned with unknown errno 107 When I can effectively ssh and ping a given server. I've seen other threads regarding this, some of them to deal with the "net.ipv4.ip_nonlocal_bind" parameter, and also a bug

Question regarding RDMA support, in gluster 3.3.1
Hi, I've recently install glusterfs on a cluster of several machines, and although it works very nicely when I use TCP connections I completely fail to use RDMA connections. I have 10 machines with IB NICs, and RDMA does work between them (verified using ib_write_bw -r and several other apps). When I configure a volume with RDMA I have a problem with the port at the client side. It keeps

Slow writing on mounted glusterfs volume via Samba
Hi guys, I have configured gluster fs in replication mode in two ubuntu servers. Windows users use samba sharing to access the mounted volume. Basically my setup is that client machines on each site connect to its local file server so it has the fattest connection. Two files servers are connected via VPN tunnel which has really high bandwidth Right now it is very slow to write files to the

GlusterFS extended attributes, "system" namespace
Hi, I'm running GlusterFS 3.3.2 and I'm having trouble getting geo-replication to work. I think it is a problem with extended attributes. I'll using ssh with a normal user to perform the replication. On the server log in /var/log/glusterfs/geo-replication/VOLNAME/ssh?.log I'm getting an error "ReceClient: call ?:?:? (xtime) failed on peer with OSError". On the

Rev Your (RDMA) Engines for the RDMA GlusterFest
It's that time again ? we want to test the GlusterFS 3.4 beta before we unleash it on the world. Like our last test fest, we want you to put the latest GlusterFS beta through real-world usage scenarios that will show you how it compares to previous releases. Unlike the last time, we want to focus this round of testing on Infiniband and RDMA hardware. For a description of how to do this, see
