Migrate from Samba 4 to Samba 4?
Hi All,
Does anyone know if there's a Samba 4 to Samba 4 migration process? Sounds weird, but it has a logical reason:
I've a several-year-old S4 implementation, from an early Alpha (10 I think?) that hasn't been in the best of shape of late - when S4 4.0.0 arrived, I accidentally upgraded using my normal "git pull; ./configure; make; make install" procedure and instead of

Samba4 + Winbind + PAM Installation/Configuration
Hello,
Now that I have my Samba4 DC running great on CentOS6.4 I was wondering if somebody could help understand better how to install and configure Samba4 with winbind and PAM.
I used the tutorial here:
This got me through to the point where "Using pam_winbind" starts.

Samba 4 Cleanup Managing and Otherwise
OK, there has got to be a way to work with this thing other than
wiping the Domain every time an error pops up.
Trying to resolve problems I did a git upgrade and:
setup# /usr/local/samba/sbin/upgradeprovision
Which provided the unhelpful:
Found 3 domain controllers, for the moment upgradeprovision is not
able to handle upgrade on domain with more than one DC, please demote

gnutls bug
I am running centos6.4. Where do I find the updated gnutls packages? I
see the updated source file here:
http://vault.centos.org/6.5/updates/Source/SPackages/
But I don't see the correct version of the packages in the 6.4 tree here:
http://vault.centos.org/6.4/updates/x86_64/Packages/
Where should I be looking for the updated package for 6.4?
Thanks.

samba_upgradeprovision and msDS-SupportedEncryptionTypes / msDS-NcType
Originally I had a Win 2003 DC. I added a samba 4.0.0 DC to the
domain, allow full replication to take place and then transferred all
the roles to the samba 4.0.0 dc. Finally I removed the Windows DC from
the domain.
Everything has been working well. Today I upgraded from samba 4.0.0 to
4.0.3 and ran samba_upgradeprovision --full. Initially this was
failing in update_present throwing an exception

Recent version of Latex
I've moved most of my user's PCs from OpenSuse (11.x, unmaintainend now) to
CentOS 6.4. On my old OpenSuse latex was "texlive-latex-2010" and current
version on CTAN is texlive-2013.
But on CentOS 6.4 I've only the old texlive-latex-2007 and several sty files
available on my previous config are not available now and users cannot compile
their previous documents.

problems when trying to upgrade from Samba4 alpha 8 to alpha10
Hi,
I have installed Samba 4 alpha8 on Ubuntu Server 9.10 with openldap backend
(2.4.20) as described in
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO/Ubuntu_Server_9.04; which is
working fine so far. Now, I tried to upgrade to alpha 10.
The steps I took were:
- checked out alpha 10 from git
- run make (compiled everything fine)
- shut down running samba daemon
- tried to run?

yum install to a portable location
I have googled, read the man page, and such.
What I am trying to do is install applications to a NFS mounted drive,
where the libraries and everything are locally installed on that
filesystem so that it is portable across servers (I have over 100
servers which each need specific applications installed via yum and we
do not want to install 100 copies).
We tried the yum relocate and it was not

fstab, unusual behavior of "missing UUID"
I have the following as the last line of my /etc/fstab file on a
computer running CentOS6.4..
UUID=3b550884-8d05-41a5-a205-17b6d7269dd1 /mnt ext3
rw,suid,dev,exec,noauto,nouser,async 0 2
The UUID refers to an ext3 partition of a removable USB drive.
If the USB drive is not plugged into the computer the computer will not
boot. It seems that this is the incorrect behavior since

building software raid.
dear All,
I'm spending the afternoon trying to build software raid using this (
excellent ) guide :
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Install_On_Partitionable_RAID1
I'm doing this not only because this machine has no raid controller - I
could go out and buy one - but also because I hope software raid will
provide easier monitoring.
This is a newly installed, updated Centos6.4 standard
