Samba4 : Join as an AD domain member
Hi, I'm trying to join a samba4 (4.0.5) server as a domain member in an AD (2k8 server) environment. I used this command to compile samba4 ( https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member) : ./configure --with-ads --with-shared-modules=idmap_ad But I get this error : Active Directory support not available : LDAP support ist not available. /root/samba-4.0.5/source3/wscript:733: error:

Samba 4 domain members
Hi there, I would like to setup a Samba 4 member server to act as a separate fileserver within my Samba 4 domain. Does anyone have any recommendations for this setup? I've tried to create one following this: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member Which seems to work ok until I try to change any permission on any shares (or anything within the shares). I then get

Hai, ? The wiki http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba/Domain_Member ? is missing something like this tekst.? when you follow the wiki, from this point ? wbinfo -p Ping to winbindd succeeded wbinfo -u administrator dns-rtd-dc2 dns-rtd-dc1 krbtgt guest getent passwd output = only linux users ? you need to set nis (rfc2307) (uid/gid) on the users and groups in the AD, then when done, this works

samba 2.2.2 domain security w/ win2k AD
Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 7/SPARC. Windows 2000 SP2 domain controller (native mode). Joined samba to domain as per htmldocs/DOMAIN_MEMBER.html. [global] workgroup = DOM security = domain password server = charon However, connecting to shares as non-guest fails due to authentication problems (below). As htmldocs/DOMAIN_MEMBER.html indicates this does work, is there some other magic that needs

samba load
I am running samba-3.0.10 on a Solaris 8 box. The server is running as a DOMAIN_MEMBER in an Active Directory Domain. It has 8G of memory and 2 cpus. The smbd processes are started from inetd.conf. Lately, the server's load has been staying very high, from 10 - 14 and the smbd processes fluctuate between 1200 and 1600. This causes performance to suffer and clients start to complain that

samba4.1 as domain member in a domain I don't be admin
Hi, I bet this question was asked several times, but I'm honestly not able to find a solution. My samba4.1 (running on FreeBSD10) is part of a larger network/AD where I only have very restricted rights. Our network consists of a "toplevel" AD-Domain (top.foo.bar) and several "subdomains" (in my case: sub1.top.foo.bar), which have their own domaincontrollers (MS Windows

Windows 8 Pro no domain logon possible
Hi.... Some days ago I installed windows 8 pro from MSDN on one of my machines. I got a serious problem with it. I cannot logon as domain user. I first tried joining my domain from win8 with an unchanged win8 installation. This did fail. Afterwards I applied the usual windows 7 registry patches to allow a samba domain join and rebooted. Afterwards I could join my domain with no trouble. I

server max protocol appropriate values
Using Wireshark I see the protocol used as SMB2. Using a Windows workstation I tested by navigating to files and folders on my member server or to my sysvol folder on a DC. Domain Authorization
Greetings, Normally I lurk on a list before posting, but I don't have the luxury to take the time to lurk this time around. I apologize ahead of time for any breaches of etiquette that you have on the list. I have just setup a RedHat 6.0 system with Samba 2.0.6 (via RPM packages, not source.) I've been adminning Linux for four years, but this is my first attempt with Samba, so I'm

Samba4... upgrade member servers?
I am upgrading a samba 3 domain controller with an ldap backend to samba 4 via classicupgrade and was wondering... do I need to upgrade our samba 3 file server at the same time or will it continue to work as is for the time being? Also, I have read conflicting opinions about whether I need to run winbindd on the member server (we do currently) given our use of ldap. Could someone enlighten me

Samba 3 member server connected to Samba 4 DC (using nslcd)
Hi all, I am having a problem connecting a Samba 3 member server to my newly created Samba 4 DC. I am using nslcd at the Samba 4 end successfully and this has allowed me to login using domain accounts - I've also got this working with visudo and /etc/security/access.conf to control sudo access with groups created on the DC. All good. My problem is that I have a Samba 3 member server
